President of the Turkic Investment Fund Paid a Working Visit to Kuwait

Al-Kuwait, 12 August 2026 – President of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF) Baghdad Amreyev paid a working visit to the State of Kuwait, during which he held meetings with the leadership of leading Kuwaiti and regional financial and investment institutions.

During the meeting with Rashaid Al-Bader, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), the parties discussed prospects for developing cooperation between the two funds, including co-financing of infrastructure and other priority projects, as well as the exchange of expertise. Following the talks, an agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between TIF and KFAED in the near future.

At the meeting with Sheikh Saud Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), the parties discussed opportunities to strengthen investment and financial ties between Kuwait and TIF member states. Infrastructure, transport and logistics, energy, and the financial sector were identified as promising areas for cooperation. The parties agreed to continue practical work on identifying investment projects of mutual interest.

During the talks with Fawzi Yousef Al-Hunaif, Director General of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the parties discussed the priority areas of activity of the two institutions and prospects for joint project financing. Interest was expressed in further developing cooperation, including through engagement with the institutions of the Arab Coordination Group.

The meetings were attended by Yerzhan Yelekeyev, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Kuwait. Particular attention during the talks was paid to food security. The parties highlighted Kazakhstan’s significant potential in this area and noted that, as Kuwait seeks to diversify its sources of food supplies, Kazakhstan is regarded as one of the promising partners for developing long-term cooperation and implementing joint investment projects.

Following the visit, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and exploring concrete investment initiatives between the Turkic Investment Fund and Kuwait’s leading financial institutions.

Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) is the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Kuwait, with a history dating back to 1953. KIA’s assets under management are estimated at approximately USD 1 trillion, making it one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds.

Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) is Kuwait’s state development institution, established in 1961 to finance projects in developing countries. Since its establishment, the Fund has financed more than 1,000 projects in over 100 countries worldwide, including Kazakhstan.

Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development is a regional development finance institution headquartered in Kuwait and operational since 1974. The Fund finances major infrastructure and socio-economic development projects in Arab countries and is one of the key institutions of the Arab Coordination Group.
