Kazakhstan and Algeria Discuss Prospects for Cooperation in Healthcare

Algiers, August 11, 2026 - Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Algeria Anuarbek Akhmetov held a meeting with Algerian Minister of Health Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudène.

The meeting focused on prospects for developing Kazakhstan-Algeria cooperation in the healthcare sector. The Minister was briefed on achievements of Kazakhstan’s healthcare system, including the country’s accumulated experience in organ transplantation, particularly heart transplantation, modern approaches to the treatment of oncological diseases, as well as the implementation of digital solutions in the healthcare system.

In the context of the new Constitution of Kazakhstan, the Algerian Minister took particular interest in Article 32 and highly appreciated the introduction of the concept of “non-paid medical care”, which opens up new prospects for the development of the healthcare sector.

Welcoming Kazakhstan’s anti-nuclear policy, Mr. Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudène highly commended the efforts and achievements of Kazakhstani doctors in rehabilitating people affected by nuclear tests. Referring to the tragic legacy of the nuclear testing site in the Algerian Sahara, the Minister expressed interest in studying Kazakhstan’s experience in combating oncological diseases.

Following the meeting, the two sides noted the prospects for further cooperation, including the exchange of experience and technologies and the development of practical cooperation between relevant institutions of the two countries.
