Seoul, August 12, 2026 - Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Korea Asset Issenali laid flowers at the monument to the great Kazakh poet, thinker and educator Abai Kunanbayuly in Seoul.

The participants of the ceremony paid tribute to the outstanding figure whose literary and philosophical legacy holds a special place in the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Kazakh people and continues to remain relevant far beyond Kazakhstan.

It was noted that Abai’s ideas on the pursuit of knowledge, education, hard work and moral self-improvement resonate with contemporary values of education and human capital development. His openness to world culture and commitment to dialogue and mutual understanding among peoples give his legacy particular significance today.

The monument to Abai Kunanbayuly in Seoul, unveiled in 2021, has become one of the recognizable symbols of cultural and humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea.
