Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia Enhance Cooperation in Archival Affairs

Riyadh, August 17, 2026 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Madiyar Menilbekov, met with the CEO of the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), Turki bin Mohammed Alshuwaier.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for advancing bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia in the fields of archival affairs, historical documentation, and cultural and humanitarian relations.
In particular, the sides reviewed the organizational arrangements for the official return visit of the leadership of the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia, scheduled for September of this year, as well as the draft bilateral agreements intended for signing during the visit.
Following the meeting, both parties agreed to maintain active dialogue on studying historical and cultural heritage and expanding partnerships between the scientific and archival institutions of the two nations.
On May 22, 2025, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in Astana between the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
