On 26 August, a working meeting and round table were held with a delegation from the Republic of Belarus headed by Anatoly Isachenko, Chairman of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee.

Following the negotiations, a Roadmap for Interregional Cooperation was signed, defining specific areas of cooperation between East Kazakhstan and Mogilev Regions.

The priority areas include:

• Agro-industrial complex — deep processing of meat and dairy products, development of fish farming and beekeeping;
• Industry — agricultural machinery manufacturing, prospects for joint production of elevators, components and furniture for educational institutions;
• Tourism — systematic exchange between tour operators, presentation of East Kazakhstan’s tourism and investment potential to Belarusian businesses, development of ecological, mountain and health tourism.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the development of tourism cooperation. East Kazakhstan Region has significant potential for the development of ecological, mountain and health tourism. Further cooperation provides for expanding contacts between tour operators of the two regions, exchanging experience, and presenting East Kazakhstan’s tourism products and investment opportunities to representatives of the Belarusian business community.

Positive dynamics are also observed in trade and economic relations. From January to May of the current year, the trade turnover between East Kazakhstan Region and the Republic of Belarus increased by 5% and amounted to USD 4.13 million. At the same time, exports increased by 65%.

The signed Roadmap will serve as a basis for moving from the agreements reached to the practical implementation of joint initiatives, organizing business missions and establishing direct contacts between enterprises of the two regions.

For East Kazakhstan, developing cooperation with Mogilev Region opens additional opportunities to attract investment, expand business ties and promote the region’s tourism potential in the Belarusian market.
