Kazakhstan Presented Its Investment Opportunities to the Business Community of Northern Greece

Thessaloniki, 7 September 2026 – As part of his working visit to Thessaloniki, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece H.E. Mr. Timur Sultangozhin took part in events marking the opening of the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) and held a series of meetings with representatives of government institutions and the business community of Northern Greece.
On 4-5 September, the Ambassador familiarized himself with the capabilities of Greek companies represented at TIF and explored promising areas of cooperation with Kazakh partners. He also attended the official opening ceremony of the exhibition as an invited guest. During the event, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis delivered an address outlining the key directions of the country’s economic development.
On the sidelines of TIF, the Ambassador also met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Harry Theoharis to discuss current issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Greece.
On 7 September, the Ambassador met with representatives of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce «ICC Hellas», the Association of Enterprises of the Thessaloniki Industrial Area (SEVIPETH), as well as members of the local business community.
During the meeting, Timur Sultangozhin briefed the participants on Kazakhstan’s economic development, the country’s investment opportunities, existing state support measures for foreign investors, as well as Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics potential as a key link between Europe and Asia.
Particular attention was paid to prospects for expanding practical cooperation between Kazakh and Greek companies. Promising areas identified included industrial cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, the agro-industrial sector, tourism, digital technologies and other sectors of mutual interest.
The Ambassador emphasized Kazakhstan’s interest in attracting Greek businesses to investment projects and in developing direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries. In this context, the important role of regional chambers of commerce and business associations in establishing partnerships and identifying concrete projects for joint implementation was highlighted.
In addition, the Ambassador held separate meetings with President of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ioannis Masoutis, President of SEVIPETH Konstantinos Moraitidis, and Deputy Minister of Interior of Greece responsible for Macedonia and Thrace Konstantinos Gkioulekas.
Following the meetings, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Greece.
