Coordination between Kazakhstan and Slovenia within the Framework of Multilateral Diplomacy

Ljubljana, 8 September 2026 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovenia Altay Abibullayev held a meeting with Ambassador Anita Pipan, Director-General of the Directorate for International Law and Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia.
The parties exchanged views on multilateral cooperation and interaction within international fora, shared assessments of the current situation within the United Nations system and the need to strengthen its institutions, and discussed the issue of water diplomacy, underscoring the importance of coordinated approaches to global challenges. Particular attention in the context of the multilateral agenda was devoted to mutual support for the initiatives and candidacies of the two countries in UN bodies and specialized agencies, as well as in other international organizations.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan provided a detailed overview of the initiatives of the Head of State of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to establish, under the auspices of the United Nations, a specialized international water organization and an International Agency for Biological Safety. He also emphasized the importance of the International Day of Action against Nuclear Tests, observed annually on 29 August at the initiative of Kazakhstan.
The interlocutors reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of multilateralism, underscored the importance of international law, and expressed their readiness to continue dialogue on the reform of international institutions. Particular attention was also paid to the humanitarian agenda and the search for sustainable solutions in regions requiring international support.
Following the consultations, the parties agreed to maintain regular contacts and expressed their mutual readiness to continue close coordination and to take each other’s interests into account in international elective bodies.
