THE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES DEVELOPS THE SCIENTIFIC POTENTIAL OF THE COUNTRY BASED ON INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a round table dedicated to the development of science. The event was timed to coincide with the 125th anniversary of the outstanding scientist, academician and statesman K.I.Satpayev.
In his welcoming speech, the President of the Academy Akhylbek Kurishbayev stressed the importance of the Academy in strengthening the scientific potential of Kazakhstan. He noted that based on the analysis of the experience of 20 leading world academies of sciences, a 10-year Academy development strategy was developed, including clear indicators and objectives. The basis for the successful activities of leading academies is situational predictive analytics, the implementation of which will effectively build science priorities and eliminate systemic gaps.
In his report, the President of the Academy spoke about the work done in 2024. It was noted that among the achievements of the Academy is the conduct of foresight research, within the framework of which 30 regional and sectoral sessions were organized with the participation of ministries, akimats, business and the scientific community. As a result of the sessions, 200 priority tasks for scientific research were identified. The President also spoke about the creation of an analytical center that is working to assess the state of Russian science and identify key problems.
The President of the Academy made a large-scale report on the work done this year. During the report, for the first time, large-scale foresight studies were conducted to determine the priorities of science development, a special analytical center was created to assess the actual state of domestic science, which cited the results of specific work of the Center.
During the round table, all participants decided to work together to develop approaches to solving the problems in the field of scientific and technological development facing our country, and gave fresh suggestions. As a result of the event, work will continue on the development of domestic science on a systematic basis in accordance with bilateral memoranda between public, sectoral academies and scientific associations of the country on joint activities with the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
