In order to introduce new mechanisms to protect children's rights and ensure their participation in the life of the country, a new composition of children's ombudsmen has been formed in each region. Which included 40 young representatives from among high school students, leaders of the school parliament, activists, volunteers and others. The initiative is aimed at realizing the child's right to life and active participation in social transformations through the activities of children's self-government.
"Children have the right to be heard and involved in decision-making on all issues related to their well-being. It is important to create optimal conditions for children to know and realize their rights, to be able to exercise and protect them, turning to various state and public institutions for support. Children's representative offices will become one of the important tools for ensuring the well—being of children," said Yulia Ovechkina, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Children's representative offices can assist in solving urgent problems of protecting the rights of peers, supporting children's social initiatives, participate in the formation of state policy in the interests of children, involving the intellectual potential of children in the development of normative legal acts on childhood, the formation of legal culture, civic maturity and social responsibility in the children's environment.
Children's ombudsmen also actively cooperate with regional commissioners for children's rights, which contributes to more effective protection of children's interests at all levels. It should be noted that elections to children's ombudsmen are held annually.
