Tourism Opportunities of Kazakhstan Presented in Seoul 08.06.2025
Seoul, June 4, 2025 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Korea, together with Kazakh Tourism JSC NC, organized a Road Show to showcase Kazakhstan’s tourism potential.The event brought together about 150 participants, including representatives of leading Korean tour operators, airlines, the Secretariat of the Central Asia – Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum, the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA), tourism experts, and journalists from both countries. The Kazakh delegation included 10 organizations and companies such as Kazakh Tourism JSC NC, the Almaty Tourism Bureau, Air Astana and SCAT Airlines, and the Shymbulak ski resort.In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Nurgali Arystanov emphasized the positive trends in the country’s socio-economic development. In 2024, Kazakhstan's economy grew by 5.1%, and the volume of foreign direct investment reached a record high.He also noted that tourism is developing rapidly in Kazakhstan thanks to the political support of the national leadership. He highlighted the dynamic growth of the MICE sector (business events, conferences, and exhibitions), citing the successful hosting of the Astana International Forum on May 29–30, 2025. One of the forum’s honored guests was the 8th UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who was received by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.It should be noted that Korea continues to be one of Kazakhstan’s key tourism markets. In 2024, 40,180 Korean nationals visited Kazakhstan, an increase of 12.8% compared to 2023. The number of Korean tourists also rose to 26,861, up by 12% year-on-year.This growth in inbound tourism is attributed to the visa-free regime, the expansion of direct flights to Almaty, Astana, and Shymkent to 17 flights per week, and Kazakhstan’s active promotion in the South Korean market.On the sidelines of the Road Show, meetings were held between Korean and Kazakh tour operators. During the event, Air Astana, SCAT, and Eastar Jet—airlines operating direct regular flights between Korea and Kazakhstan—raffled off tickets to Almaty and Shymkent. Goods for personal use, depending on the criteria for attribution and the method of transportation of such goods, transported by individuals through the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, are regulated by Decision No. 107 of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission dated December 20, 2017 "On certain issues related to goods for personal use", as well as in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Finance No. 250 of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 31, 2015 "Criteria for the classification of goods transported by individuals across the Customs border of the Customs Union, to goods for personal use."Thus, the above–mentioned norms established by law indicate that individuals can import duty-free goods for personal use by air transport worth no more than 10,000 euros and weighing no more than 50 kg, by other means of transport and on foot - worth no more than 500 euros and 25 kg. Astana, June 5, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov held a meeting with Joaquim Nunes de Almeida, Director for Mobility and Energy-Intensive Industries at the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) of the European Commission.The meeting focused on prospects for deepening the partnership between Kazakhstan and the European Union in the areas of critical raw materials, sustainable supply chains, and technological cooperation. Kazakhstan reaffirmed its readiness for joint exploration and processing of critical minerals identified as priority by the EU, with a view to exporting higher value-added products.Special attention was paid to mechanisms for attracting investment in geological exploration. Political Consultations between Kazakhstan and Greece Held in Astana 08.06.2025
Astana, June 4, 2025 – The second round of consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Hellenic Republic was held today in the Kazakh capital. The Kazakh delegation was led by Daniyar Seidaliyev, Director of the European Department of Foreign Ministry, the Greek delegation was headed by Dimitrios Michalopoulos, Director of the A5 Department of the Foreign Ministry.The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Astana and Athens, confirming their mutual interest in further strengthening political dialogue.Special attention was paid to inter-parliamentary cooperation and the enhancement of the bilateral legal framework. National Guard Honors the Heroic Sacrifice of Guardsmen 08.06.2025
A memorial event titled "Mәңгілік сапта" was held at the Main Command of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan to honor the courage and selflessness of the guardsmen who gave their lives during the terrorist attack on military unit 6655 in the city of Aktobe in 2016.During the ceremony, servicemen observed a moment of silence to commemorate the fallen heroes. This event symbolized profound gratitude for the steadfastness and loyalty demonstrated at a critical moment.On June 5, 2016, at 14:35, a group of armed terrorists launched a brazen attack on military unit 6655, aiming to seize weapons, ammunition, and eliminate personnel. The first to confront the attackers were Major Daniyal Mailybaev of military counterintelligence, Private Sapar Dosbol, and Contracted Junior Sergeant Berik Kaliyev. All three died heroically, fighting to the end.Junior Sergeant Kaliyev demonstrated exceptional bravery, resisting until his last bullet. Despite the enemy’s numerical advantage, the three-man guard detail acted strictly according to regulations, preventing the capture of the arms depot. The battle lasted about 15 minutes. Though outnumbered, the guardsmen's decisive actions thwarted the terrorists’ plans.Soldiers inside the barracks at the time of the attack quickly followed protocol, barricading themselves and preparing to defend. Their coordinated and courageous response helped prevent the takeover of key facilities and minimized casualties.The "Mәңгілік сапта" event serves as a solemn reminder of the high price military personnel pay to secure peace and safety for the nation. A meeting on measures to develop and support domestic producers was held under the chairmanship of Akim of the district Berik Sarmenbav. The meeting was attended by Deputy akims of the district, akims of settlements and rural districts, representatives of law enforcement agencies, heads of departments and heads of institutions, regardless of ownership. In accordance with the instructions of Akim of the region Nurlybek Mashbekovich, topical issues of increasing production capacity in the district, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, as well as local producers were discussed at the meeting. The head of the district noted the importance of increasing the demand for domestic products and prioritizing local producers. - Support for domestic producers directly contributes to the sustainable development of the economy. Today, there are entrepreneurs in our district who produce high-quality products. Now we need to make efforts to expand these enterprises, provide them with new technologies and increase the spread of products on the market, – said Berik Abdygapparovich. A festive event "state symbols – pride of the country" was held with the participation of Akim of the district Berik Sarmenbayev. The solemn meeting was attended by deputy of the regional maslikhat Zhumabek Embergenov, chairman of the District Council of Veterans Musa Keldibayev, Deputies of the district maslikhat, representatives of the intelligentsia and residents of the district. The head of the district congratulated the audience on a significant holiday and noted the importance of symbols for our country: - June 4, 1992 is a special day in the history of our independent country, written in golden letters. On this day, new state symbols of independent Kazakhstan, the Blue Flag, The State Emblem and the National Anthem were approved. Head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that "the importance of our blue flag, coat of arms and Anthem for our country is special. These values are a symbol of peace, unity and harmony, and prosperity." In our sacred symbols, all the thousand-year-old dreams and goals of the Kazakh people are united. The flag of the Kazakh people united the whole nation and strengthened the unity of the country. The Blue Flag of our country flies on the rostrum of international organizations, such as the United Nations, and our anthem sounds on the arenas of the world. This is the result of the unity and hard work of all our people. Our symbols are not only a symbol of art, but also a harbinger of the idea of creating an independent state, respect for national identity. May the authority of our state symbols grow and strengthen all over the world. May our blue flag fly in the sky forever! - said Berik Abdygapparovich. During the festive event, the symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan were honored, and a ceremony of taking the oath of office of civil servants was held. Kazakhstan Presents Investment and Foreign Economic Development Prospects to S&P Global Ratings Mission 08.06.2025
Astana, June 4, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov held a meeting with the mission of the international rating agency S&P Global Ratings, which visited the country to conduct its annual analysis of the socio-economic situation.During the dialogue, Kazakhstan’s key foreign economic policy priorities were presented, aimed at strengthening cooperation with both neighboring and distant countries, as well as expanding access for Kazakh goods and investments to international markets. Particular attention was paid to systemic measures to maintain macroeconomic stability, improve the investment climate, and stimulate the inflow of foreign direct investment into non-resource sectors of the economy.Deputy Minister Kuantyrov also informed the delegation about recent investment-related activities, including the Astana International Forum, which has become an important platform for showcasing the country’s economic potential. For the first time in the Forum’s history, a dedicated session with the participation of African countries was held to discuss trade and economic cooperation in areas such as agriculture, digitalization, logistics, and other promising sectors.Special emphasis was placed on strengthening intra-regional cooperation, including the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, participation in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), and the establishment of sustainable links between the countries of Central Asia. Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of coordinated regional efforts to enhance the competitiveness and resilience of national economies.The Kazakh side underlined that openness, predictability, and active partnerships with international financial institutions form the foundation of the country’s economic course.
