Tokyo, March 18, 2025 – During an official visit to Japan, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held meetings with representatives of business circles of the country.The Minister got acquainted with the implementation of projects of Japanese companies in Kazakhstan in the field of industry, digitalization, decarbonisation, transport and logistics. Kazakhstan and Romania: a New Impetus towards Strategic Partnership 18.03.2025
Bucharest, March 17, 2025 – The prospects of establishing a strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Romania became the key topic on the agenda of the 8th round of political consultations held today in Bucharest. The Kazakh side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko, while the Romanian side was represented by State Secretary for Strategic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ana Tinca.In the course of the discussion, the diplomats addressed a broad range of issues, including the deepening of political dialogue, the strengthening of trade and economic ties, and the development of investment cooperation. It was underlined that the legislative bodies of both countries play an important role in developing not only political dialogue but also trade, economic and humanitarian relations. In general, the talks in Bucharest confirmed the high level of bilateral interaction and laid the foundations for the establishment of a strategic partnership which will open up new niches for sustainable economic growth and the strengthening of the international positions of both countries.For reference: Romania is Kazakhstan’s No.1 trade and investment partner in the region of Central and South-Eastern Europe, ranking 5th in Europe and 10th in the world among all trading partners. Development of Arkalyk: new projects and prospects 14.03.2025
Akim of Kostanay region Kumar Aksakalov visited Arkalyk on a working visit, inspected key sites where construction and modernization work is underway, and held a meeting on the socio-economic development of the city.In pursuance of the order of the Head of State on the balanced development of regions, large-scale projects are being implemented in Arkalyk aimed at developing the economy, modernizing infrastructure, improving the quality of medical services, developing education, sports and culture.Support for business and industryThe regional program "Business-Komek" is in effect for the southern regions of Kostanay region, thanks to which entrepreneurs can receive loans at 1 percent. Within the framework of the program, 12 investment projects worth 574 million tenge are already being implemented. Among them are the construction of two new asphalt concrete plants (there will be three in the region in total) and two crushed stone plants (there will be four in total). These enterprises will improve the quality of road surfaces and building materials, and create additional jobs.Modernization of transport infrastructureDevelopment of transport arteries plays a key role in the economic growth of the city.In 2023, the repair of 38 kilometers of the road from Arkalyk to the border with the Akmola region was completed. In 2024, it is planned to complete the reconstruction of an 87-kilometer section from Arkalyk to the border with the Ulytau region. In total, 125 kilometers of the road surface will be updated.Arkalyk Airport has not been in operation for more than 30 years. As part of its reconstruction program, it is planned to update the terminal, runway and apron. The resumption of the airport will improve the transport accessibility of the city and provide comfortable conditions for passengers.Development of medicineAs part of the modernization of healthcare, a major overhaul of the maternity hospital and hospital is being carried out. Medical institutions will be equipped with a modern MRI machine and angiograph, which will significantly improve the level of diagnostics and treatment. In the future, this will provide medical services to about 77 thousand residents of Arkalyk, Amangeldy and Dzhangeldy districts.New sports facilitiesThe formation of a modern sports infrastructure is an important area of development of the city. By the end of the year, the overhaul of the Gornyak Culture Palace, which has not functioned for the past 15 years, will be completed. The House of Culture in the village of Ashutasty is also being renovated.These changes will create a modern educational and cultural environment for residents of the city and the region.Preparing for floodsLarge-scale work has been carried out to minimize the risks of spring floods. In the village of Severny, a 600-meter earthen embankment has been erected, three culverts have been installed, 3.1 kilometers of ditches have been dug, roads have been reinforced, and storm drains have been cleaned. In the village of Dachny, medium-term repairs have been carried out on the road on Amangeldinskaya Street, 1.8 kilometers long. In particular, the parties discussed cooperation in oil and gas supplies, while also exploring possible cooperation in the development of nuclear energy, given Slovakia’s extensive experience in this field. Astana, March 13, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held negotiations with European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Sikela. The discussions focused on the practical implementation of specific projects in key areas of bilateral and regional cooperation, including transport and logistics, critical raw materials, green energy, digitalization, climate change, space and other sectors.Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further developing multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union under the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, which covers 29 areas of interaction, as well as implementing the EU Strategy for Central Asia.The negotiations were held in a roundtable format with the participation of senior officials from various state bodies and agencies of Kazakhstan. The total gross inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) from EU countries between 2005 and the first nine months of 2024 reached 200.7 billion dollars, representing 47.8% of Kazakhstan’s total FDI inflows (419.5 billion dollars). In the first nine months of 2024 alone, FDI from EU countries amounted to 6.4 billion dollars, or 50.4% of the total inflows. Preventive measures against floods are being implemented in Kostanay region 13.03.2025
Akim of Kostanay region Kumar Aksakalov spoke at a meeting of the republican headquarters for the coordination of flood prevention measures chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. He said that the region is actively preparing for the flood period and is ready for possible risks.According to Kazhydromet's forecast, precipitation and temperature rise to +7 °C are expected in the region from March 13 to 18. Necessary measures have been carried out in 92 settlements affected by flooding. 168 culverts were built, 20 km of storm sewers were laid, drainage systems and filling dams were purchased in the amount of 860 million tenge. More than 7.5 billion tenge has been allocated for flood prevention measures, including the repair of 27 hydraulic structures. Additionally, 1.5 billion tenge is provided in the reserve for emergency measures."We took into account all possible risks in advance to avoid a repeat of last year's situation. All work is being carried out systematically, equipment and people are ready for any eventuality. It is important not only to protect settlements, but also to minimize damage to farmland and infrastructure," Kumar Aksakalov emphasized.Points designed for 20,000 people have been prepared for possible evacuations. Protective ramparts have been strengthened in Amangeldy, Zhangeldinsky districts and Arkalyk, and coastal protection works have been carried out. Organized transportation of farm animals to safe zones will begin on March 15. Stocks of feed have been harvested, including 644 thousand tons of hay, 217 thousand tons of straw, 84 thousand tons of hayloft and 243 thousand tons of concentrated feed.Water levels in rivers and reservoirs are monitored in the region. The total volume of water in large reservoirs is 881 million cubic meters, which corresponds to 61% of their normal filling. To prevent ice jams, blasting operations on reservoirs are planned from March 15. 193 million tenge has been allocated for these purposes, three times more than last year."We continue to clear riverbeds, strengthen dams and banks, and coordinate with neighboring regions. All necessary services are involved in the work. The situation remains under control, and we are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of people," the governor of the region said.To eliminate the consequences of the floods, a group of forces was formed, which included 3,000 specialists, about 400 pieces of equipment, 120 watercraft and 330 motor pumps. A working detour was held in Kostanay with the participation of akim of the region Kumar Aksakalov, akim of the city Marat Zhundubayev, specialized services, emergency situations, police and contractors. The goal is to monitor the progress of snow removal and preparation for the flood period.The detour route included the Yubileyny microdistrict, the Abai Kunanbayev school, the Second Kostanay district, school No. 122, the Airport microdistrict, the drainage canal in the Druzhba residential area, Abai Street and the Wheel Rows area. Astana, March 11, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, who is in Astana on an official visit.The visit of the Azerbaijani minister took place in the year of the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Allied Relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan (May 24, 2005), which emphasizes the strong and long-term nature of interstate cooperation.During the meeting a wide range of issues of bilateral relations were discussed, including politics, trade, economy, energy, transportation, transit, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties.The Kazakh Foreign Minister emphasized that thanks to the political will of the heads of state over the past three years, Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations have been brought to a qualitatively new level of interaction.“Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan demonstrate a high level of mutual understanding and trust, which allows us to consistently develop our cooperation in all spheres.
