In the Year of Working Professions, the regional championship WorldSkills Kostanay – 2025 has been launched, which unites everyone in the desire to become the best in their profession: from preschoolers to college students and young professionals.More than 300 young professionals under 22 years old will compete in 45 main competencies. For schoolchildren, the competitive process is organized according to 7 JuniorSkills competencies. The youngest participants from among preschoolers will try their hand at 5 BabySkills competencies. And for participants with special educational needs, the competition will be held in 2 Abilympics competencies. Young professionals will test themselves in the ProfySkills competency.The competition will be held at 14 competition sites in the cities of Kostanay, Rudny, Lisakovsk, Zhitikara, Tobyl.The contestants will be evaluated by about 400 experts, true masters of their craft.It is important that, as part of the career guidance work, the championship will be attended by schoolchildren, college students, employees of enterprises and teachers of technical and vocational education organizations of the region. Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov arrived in Kostanay region on a working visit. This transport corridor will increase connectivity between regions and strengthen the city's logistics potential.⸻Modernization of the heat supply systemModernization of heat power facilities continues in Arkalyk. To date, 17 km of heating networks have been replaced, and another 9.9 km are planned to be updated this year. The transition from fuel oil to coal has significantly reduced costs and ensured a stable heating season without emergency shutdowns. The work is being carried out in stages in order to further reduce the wear and tear of heating networks.⸻Development of social infrastructureAs part of the national project "Comfortable School", a new general education institution for 300 students was commissioned in Arkalyk. The educational institution is equipped with a modern material and technical base: a digital library, a STEM laboratory, robotics rooms and creative studios.Plans to strengthen higher education are being implemented. Arkalyk Pedagogical University named after Ybyrai Altynsarin is expanding its infrastructure. One of the buildings is being reconstructed to create a modern educational space. The project will increase the number of students from 2.6 to 5.2 thousand, as well as expand the range of educational and scientific programs.In healthcare, a major overhaul of the maternity hospital building of the Arkalyk Regional Hospital is underway. The roof, water supply, heating, and sewerage systems are being updated, and interior finishing is being carried out. The overall readiness of the facility is 70%. After completion of all work, the maternity hospital will be equipped with new medical equipment and brought into line with modern standards.⸻Arkalyk is a city with growth potentialThe visit of the Prime Minister confirmed the attention of the Government to the development of the Turgay region. From May 12 to June 1, 2025, a large-scale sporting event is taking place in the region — the regional Spartakiad among civil servants. This event is held in accordance with the Unified Regional Calendar of Sports and Mass Events.The main goal of the Spartakiad is to strengthen the corporate spirit and popularize a healthy lifestyle among civil servants. Through sports competitions, the authorities strive not only to improve the image of the civil service, but also to create conditions for regular physical education and sports, as well as to establish interaction between government agencies.This year, the competitions are taking place at four locations: the cities of Kostanay, Lisakovsk, Tobyl and the Auliekol district. The program includes nine sports: mini-football, volleyball, togyzkumalak, table tennis, swimming, chess, Kazakh kuresi, tug-of-war and 3x3 basketball.Each sport has its own characteristics. For example, in mini-football, teams of 12 people will compete for prizes in Tobyl from May 30 to June 1. Volleyball players will meet in Kostanay on May 12-13 — each team must have two women on the court. In tug-of-war (May 17-18 in Lisakovsk), teams consist of seven people, among whom there must also be two women.Togyzkumalak and chess will be held according to the Swiss system, where the personal result of each participant affects the overall team standings. The 2024-2025 academic year is coming to an end in Kostanay Region. This year, 4,752 students are graduating from schools, which is more than last year (4,213). At the same time, special attention is paid to children from socially vulnerable categories, for whom free high-quality recreation is organized.In total, 12 country and 773 school camps will operate in the region in the summer.
