Kazakhstan and Great Britain held Consular Consultations 13.03.2025
Astana, March 12, 2025 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted consular consultations between Kazakhstan and Great Britain.During the meeting, the Director of the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Azamat Aubekov, and the newly appointed Regional Consular Director for Europe and Central Asia of the British Foreign Office, Louise Ellis, discussed a wide range of issues, including the protection of the rights of the interests of citizens of both countries, the improvement of visa and migration procedures.Particular attention was paid to ensuring the rights of Kazakh citizens temporarily working in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.Aubekov informed the British colleague about the measures of Kazakhstan to develop conditions for attracting highly qualified specialists and digital nomads. In this context, information was presented on Neo Nomad Visa and Digital Nomad Visa, which provide foreign citizens with new opportunities for long-term stay and work in Kazakhstan.The parties noted the high level of bilateral cooperation in the consular sphere and expressed readiness to further strengthen the partnership. Kazakhstan and the EU Diversify Practical Partnership 13.03.2025
Astana, March 13, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held negotiations with European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Sikela. The discussions focused on the practical implementation of specific projects in key areas of bilateral and regional cooperation, including transport and logistics, critical raw materials, green energy, digitalization, climate change, space and other sectors.Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further developing multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union under the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, which covers 29 areas of interaction, as well as implementing the EU Strategy for Central Asia.The negotiations were held in a roundtable format with the participation of senior officials from various state bodies and agencies of Kazakhstan. The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, aimed at a substantive discussion of mutually beneficial projects within the framework of the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, which focuses on promoting infrastructure projects aligned with sustainability and connectivity goals, with a total budget of 300 billion euro.“Kazakhstan remains committed to further developing its partnership with the EU. We seek mutually beneficial outcomes that will open new opportunities, ensure sustainable growth, economic security, and a stable future for both regions,” noted the European Commissioner.Both sides expressed their mutual interest in continuing a constructive dialogue and building long-term cooperation to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth, innovative development, and joint solutions to global challenges.One of the key outcomes of the negotiations was the signing of two agreements – Agreement on guarantees for a 200-million-euro loan from the European Investment Bank to the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, and Agreement between the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the development of projects in the critical raw materials sector in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, with funding of 3 million euro.Additionally, Jozef Sikela held a meeting with representatives of the business community, where he confirmed the European Union’s readiness to further strengthen economic cooperation and expand investment partnerships.The European Union is Kazakhstan’s primary trade and investment partner. In 2024, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EU amounted to 49.7 billion US dollars (+16.9%), with Kazakhstan’s exports reaching 38.6 billion dollars and imports totaling 11.1 billion dollars. The total gross inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) from EU countries between 2005 and the first nine months of 2024 reached 200.7 billion dollars, representing 47.8% of Kazakhstan’s total FDI inflows (419.5 billion dollars). In the first nine months of 2024 alone, FDI from EU countries amounted to 6.4 billion dollars, or 50.4% of the total inflows. Preventive measures against floods are being implemented in Kostanay region 13.03.2025
Akim of Kostanay region Kumar Aksakalov spoke at a meeting of the republican headquarters for the coordination of flood prevention measures chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. He said that the region is actively preparing for the flood period and is ready for possible risks.According to Kazhydromet's forecast, precipitation and temperature rise to +7 °C are expected in the region from March 13 to 18. Necessary measures have been carried out in 92 settlements affected by flooding. 168 culverts were built, 20 km of storm sewers were laid, drainage systems and filling dams were purchased in the amount of 860 million tenge. More than 7.5 billion tenge has been allocated for flood prevention measures, including the repair of 27 hydraulic structures. Additionally, 1.5 billion tenge is provided in the reserve for emergency measures."We took into account all possible risks in advance to avoid a repeat of last year's situation. All work is being carried out systematically, equipment and people are ready for any eventuality. It is important not only to protect settlements, but also to minimize damage to farmland and infrastructure," Kumar Aksakalov emphasized.Points designed for 20,000 people have been prepared for possible evacuations. Protective ramparts have been strengthened in Amangeldy, Zhangeldinsky districts and Arkalyk, and coastal protection works have been carried out. Organized transportation of farm animals to safe zones will begin on March 15. Stocks of feed have been harvested, including 644 thousand tons of hay, 217 thousand tons of straw, 84 thousand tons of hayloft and 243 thousand tons of concentrated feed.Water levels in rivers and reservoirs are monitored in the region. The total volume of water in large reservoirs is 881 million cubic meters, which corresponds to 61% of their normal filling. To prevent ice jams, blasting operations on reservoirs are planned from March 15. 193 million tenge has been allocated for these purposes, three times more than last year."We continue to clear riverbeds, strengthen dams and banks, and coordinate with neighboring regions. All necessary services are involved in the work. The situation remains under control, and we are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of people," the governor of the region said.To eliminate the consequences of the floods, a group of forces was formed, which included 3,000 specialists, about 400 pieces of equipment, 120 watercraft and 330 motor pumps. A working detour was held in Kostanay with the participation of akim of the region Kumar Aksakalov, akim of the city Marat Zhundubayev, specialized services, emergency situations, police and contractors. The goal is to monitor the progress of snow removal and preparation for the flood period.The detour route included the Yubileyny microdistrict, the Abai Kunanbayev school, the Second Kostanay district, school No. 122, the Airport microdistrict, the drainage canal in the Druzhba residential area, Abai Street and the Wheel Rows area. Special attention was paid to the condition of drainage structures and snow removal in residential areas.As a result of the detour, instructions were given to the Akimat of Kostanay, the Emergency Department, the police and contractors:• Accelerate the cleaning of streets, courtyards and drainage structures.• Involve management companies and axes in the cleaning, as well as strengthen the awareness of private sector residents about the need for snow removal.• Provide targeted assistance to people with limited mobility and socially vulnerable segments of the population – it is important to involve volunteer organizations.Preparations for the flood period will continue. Astana, March 11, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, who is in Astana on an official visit.The visit of the Azerbaijani minister took place in the year of the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Allied Relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan (May 24, 2005), which emphasizes the strong and long-term nature of interstate cooperation.During the meeting a wide range of issues of bilateral relations were discussed, including politics, trade, economy, energy, transportation, transit, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties.The Kazakh Foreign Minister emphasized that thanks to the political will of the heads of state over the past three years, Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations have been brought to a qualitatively new level of interaction.“Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan demonstrate a high level of mutual understanding and trust, which allows us to consistently develop our cooperation in all spheres. We aim at further expansion of interaction, especially in trade, economic and investment spheres,” Nurtleu said.The parties noted with satisfaction the significant growth of trade turnover, which has increased fivefold over the past five years due to the measures taken, reaching 533.4 million US dollars in 2024. In order to further deepen economic interaction, the sides confirmed their intention to increase this figure to 1 billion dollars.Strengthening cooperation in the energy sector was an important topic of the talks. The ministers welcomed the successful cooperation in the transit of Kazakhstan’s energy resources through the territory of Azerbaijan. It was stressed that the volume of oil transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline at the end of 2024 amounted to 1.4 million tons, and in the medium term is expected to reach the level of 2.2 million tons per year.“We consider Kazakhstan as a key partner in Central Asia. Today's talks have confirmed the mutual desire to further strengthen relations in a variety of areas, including transportation, investment, energy and education,” Bayramov said.The sides agreed to intensify cooperation in agriculture, industrial cooperation, space and telecommunications. The Kazakh-Azerbaijani Investment Fund for Direct Investments established in 2024 contributes to strengthening the dialog.During the talks, attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Over the past two years, the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have been held in both countries, which received a wide response among the public. Kazakhstan Delegation Took Part in the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Ministerial Meeting 08.03.2025
Jeddah, March 7, 2025 – Kazakhstan delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu participated in the extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the situation in Palestine and Syria.The participants of the event discussed the current geopolitical situation, challenges and threats facing the Islamic world, as well as noted the need for early recovery of the Gaza Strip and stabilization of the situation in Syria.In his speech, the Kazakh Foreign Minister noted that Kazakhstan has closely followed the Syrian crisis from its very beginning, providing a platform for negotiations within the framework of the Astana Process. “We call on OIC member countries to take active steps to stabilize the situation in Syria, taking into account the interests of the Syrian people,” said Nurtleu.Regarding the Palestinian issue, it was emphasized that the most pressing issue is to ensure a sustainable ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. Investment headquarters of Kostanay region: operational support for investors 07.03.2025
Kostanay region is actively working to attract investments and develop the manufacturing industry within the framework of the instructions of the Head of State. For this purpose, an Investment Headquarters has been established, which includes representatives of government agencies and businesses.The main goal is effective interaction with investors.The investment headquarters is designed to promptly resolve issues arising during the implementation of projects, without unnecessary bureaucracy. Kazakhstan and Cyprus Aim to Develop Cooperation 06.03.2025
Nicosia, March 6, 2025 – Within the framework of an official visit to the Republic of Cyprus, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Constantinos Kombos.The parties discussed the main issues of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian areas.It was noted that regular meetings between the heads of foreign ministries of the two countries have given a significant impetus to the progressive development of relations between the two countries, as well as the strengthening of the relevant legal framework.The Kazakh Foreign Minister emphasized that the trade turnover between the countries last year increased 5 times compared to 2023, and the volume of Cypriot investments in 2024 amounted to 227 million US dollars. It was proposed to intensify business contacts in order to expand investment cooperation and further increase the volume of mutual trade.In turn, the head of the Foreign Ministry of Cyprus noted that Kazakhstan is a reliable partner of Nicosia in Central Asia. Nicosia, March 6, 2025 – At the invitation of the Cypriot side, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu arrived to the Republic of Cyprus with the first official visit.The Kazakh Foreign Minister was received by the President Nikos Christodoulides. During the meeting, the high level of bilateral cooperation achieved recently and the mood for its further strengthening were noted.President Christodoulides, being the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, visited Kazakhstan in 2019, thus giving a serious impetus to the development of political dialogue and intensification of trade and economic ties.Kazakhstan, along with India, was identified by the Cypriot side as a priority state in the Asian direction.In turn, Minister Nurtleu conveyed to the leader of Cyprus warm greetings and best wishes from the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and noted that Cyprus is a reliable partner of our country in the European Union and the Mediterranean. Kazakhstan Assumes Chairmanship of the Conference of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons 04.03.2025
New York, 3 March 2025 – Kazakhstan has commenced its chairmanship at the Third Conference of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.In his address, the conference president, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Akan Rakhmetullin, highlighted that despite the complex international situation, the number of supporters advocating for the total elimination of nuclear arsenals and the creation of a world free from nuclear threats continues to grow. He noted that this year marks 80 years since the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and stressed the collective belief in the necessity of taking measures to ensure that such a tragedy never occurs again.Within the framework of the Treaty, Kazakhstan places particular emphasis on providing support to victims of nuclear testing, both within the country and in other regions of the world. In this regard, efforts to establish an International Fund to assist affected individuals and restore the environment have been acknowledged.The United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Izumi Nakamitsu, welcomed Kazakhstan’s leadership of the conference, recognizing the country’s substantial contribution to the global nuclear disarmament process.Over the course of the week, the conference will host thematic debates featuring leading international experts in nuclear disarmament, along with comprehensive discussions on future directions of work. On the development of tourism in the Kostanay region 04.03.2025
Recently, interest in our country as a tourist destination has increased significantly and, accordingly, the range of services is increasing to attract more domestic and foreign tourists, because Kazakhstan is diverse in this regard - from snow and mountain peaks to sand dunes and endless steppes.Our region is no exception, the region has the potential for the development of ecological, health and pilgrimage tourism. Valuable historical and spiritual monuments have been preserved on the territory of the region, which serve as the basis for cultural and educational tourism.For 9 months of 2024, our region was visited by 160 thousand domestic and more than 9 thousand foreign tourists. The volume of services provided by accommodation facilities amounted to 2.6 billion tenge, an increase of 19.2% compared to the same period in 2023. More than 12 billion tenge have been invested in the tourism industry.Thus, one of the investment projects of interest to the industry is the construction of a tourist complex in the Amangeldy district, on the territory of which there will be a hotel, a Sak sauna, a pool with a fountain, playgrounds, copies of architectural monuments: the Taj Mahal, the Egyptian pyramids, the Eiffel Tower.In addition, there will be objects aimed at preserving the historical values of Kazakhstan: the Wall of National Memory and a museum.The center for the development of ecological tourism in the region is the Naurzum State Nature Reserve, included in the list of UNESCO cultural heritage sites. The reserve was founded in 1931, its flora and fauna include 687 species of plants, 318 species of birds and 45 species of mammals.For ecotourists, there are 6 excursion trails and routes, the total length of which is 185 km.At the same time, in order to further develop tourism in the region, work is underway to improve the service sector, including air transport infrastructure.Thus, to bring it into line with international standards, the reconstruction of the runway and terminal of JSC International Airport Kostanay was carried out. Now we accept aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of up to 200 tons, the area of the airport terminal has been expanded, which has increased the capacity of the arrivals hall, a telescopic ramp has been installed for departing and arriving passengers.The restoration of the airport of the city of Arkalyk is forthcoming. It is planned to repair the runway, build a terminal, purchase meteorological and radio equipment, special equipment.Also, within the framework of the international agreement concluded between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic, in the territory of the southern region of the Kostanay region - a historical habitat - it is planned to reintroduce 40 Przewalski's horses.In June 2024, the first 7 Przewalski horses were brought to the Alibi reintroduction center located in the Amangeldinsky and Dzhangeldinsky districts.Thus, the region is systematically working on developing transport infrastructure, implementing investment projects, which, together with a diverse tourism potential, will attract not only domestic but also foreign tourists. The Ministry of Labor launches a pilot project to improve the MES procedure 04.03.2025
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, have developed an order on the implementation of a pilot project to introduce a special mechanism for providing state services for determining disability. This will simplify this procedure for several nosologies.The special mechanism for conducting a medical and social examination in an external proactive format provides for the simplification of the procedure for determining disability by sending medical documents to a single expert outside the territory.
