As of today, 162 million medicines have been labeled in Kazakhstan, of which 152 million were labeled after the introduction of mandatory labeling of medicines in Kazakhstan. At the same time, 16 million packages of medicines have been labeled and introduced into the retail network of pharmacies, which makes it possible to track the entire path of drug movement in the information system - from the manufacturer to the consumer.

Digital labeling using a unique Data Matrix code allows you to track the entire life cycle of a medicinal product — from the manufacturer to the end user.

The code contains important information: the name of the drug, the series, manufacturer information, expiration date, and other information. This eliminates the possibility of illegal trafficking and protects consumers from low-quality and counterfeit medicines.

As of today, all participants in the turnover of medicines have completed the work on the introduction of labeling, namely:
● 19 domestic manufacturers;
● 278 wholesale trade entities;
● 3,169 pharmacies and retail outlets.

The Ministry of Health continues to monitor the movement of labeled drugs, ensuring control at all stages of their life cycle.

Since July 1, 2024, Kazakhstan has introduced mandatory digital labeling of all medicines. This measure is aimed at combating counterfeit products and increasing the transparency of the drug market.
Digital labeling is a significant step towards protecting the health of citizens and increasing confidence in the quality of medicines in the Kazakh market.
