Lighting of all 80 Christmas trees of the metropolis will take place in Almaty today at 19:00. The solemn ceremony of lighting the main Christmas tree will be held on the square named after Abai. Its height is twenty-five meters. 6 kilometers of garlands, bright decorative elements, Christmas balls, large bows, as well as New Year's toys made from recycled environmentally friendly materials were used to decorate the main Christmas tree.
Before the lighting of the Christmas tree, a grandiose show "8 wonders of Almaty – magic for the whole family!" will be presented in front of the Palace of the Republic in honor of the holiday. Pop stars Roza Rymbayeva, Turar, Balzhan Bidash, Alfa group, Dinaya, Nazim Adildina, Madi Rymbayev, Dakelot, Astra group, Adil and Malika Yes will perform on the stage.
Residents and guests of the city who visited Abai Square will be greeted by Cinderella's carriage, the Gingerbread Man and other fairy-tale MAFIA characters. Large-scale and bright photo zones, sparkling fountains and other installations will create an unforgettable festive atmosphere where everyone can take memorable photos and make a New Year's video.
In addition, the main New Year's fair will be open on Abai Square from December 20, 2024 to January 5, 2025, where handicrafts, souvenirs and New Year's toys will be presented.

In the Nauryzbai district, on the Amphitheater square (347 Shugyla microdistrict).
In the Turksib district, it is located on the territory of the School Building No. 6 (13/1 Seifullin Ave.).
In Zhetysu district– there is an Arbat in the MKR. Ainbulak (at the intersection of Makatayev and Zhumabayev streets).
