The opening of the Bekzat Sattarkhanov sports complex took place in Turkestan. The solemn ceremony, held in a modern building, was attended by Akim of Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy, coaches, athletes and sports veterans. The head of the region congratulated the audience on this event.
– First of all, I wish you all a Happy New Year! Today we gathered in Turkestan for a joyful occasion. In his Message to the people, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set the task of developing sports, especially noting the need to create conditions for children to play sports. In accordance with this, work is underway in the Turkestan region to improve the sports infrastructure. There are more than 3,500 sports facilities in the region. In 11 months of this year, 10 large sports complexes were put into operation. Since the transformation of Turkestan into a regional center, such facilities as the Turkestan Arena Stadium, the Olympic Center sports Complex, the Tennis Center, and the Ice Palace have been opened. All conditions are created here for athletes to train. An international-level rowing canal and racetrack are currently under construction. All this is a manifestation of concern for sports and great support. Today we are opening a sports complex named after the great son of the Kazakh people, Olympic champion from Turkestan Bekzat Sattarkhanov. This is a worthy tribute to the champion, and we will continue to work on the development of the sport," said Darkhan Satybaldy.
Bekzat's mother Syrlykul Sattarkhanova expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the implementation of the project and wished that more and more followers of the champion would become in the region.
Gibrat Auganov, Managing Director for Corporate Governance, Social and Labor Relations and Labor Protection at Samruk-Kazyna JSC, also congratulated the audience, noting that the new facility would contribute to the preparation of champions.
2.7 billion tenge was allocated from the budget of the Turkestan region for the construction of the complex. The Samruk-Kazyna Trust Charitable Foundation of the Samruk-Kazyna JSC group of companies allocated 500 million tenge for technological equipment, interior decoration and engineering infrastructure. The building area is 7248 square meters, the total area of the territory is 1.8 hectares.
The sports complex has facilities for boxing, Kazakh wrestling, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, women's wrestling, taekwondo, karate, table tennis and game sports. There is an auditorium with 300 seats and training halls, which allows holding national and international competitions.
It is worth noting that sports in the Turkestan region is developing rapidly. 29 Olympic, 34 national and non-Olympic sports are actively promoted in the region. This year, the athletes of the region won 106 medals at the World Championships, 214 medals at the Asian Championships, as well as 16 gold, 10 silver and 5 bronze medals at the World Nomad Games.
