For the first time, a large inclusive sports festival for children is being held in Karaganda. It is attended by over 180 athletes with disabilities – students of inclusive classes of secondary schools, pupils of boarding schools.
During two days in Zhastar village, they will be able to prove themselves in eight sports: taekwondo, badminton, boccia, arm wrestling, goalball, darts, bowling and assik ata.
In addition to the competitions, experienced coaches will conduct master classes for the children.
– This is the first time such a festival has been held. The children came from different parts of the Karaganda region. The competition will be judged by 32 people.
All participants will be awarded backpacks with sweets for the New Year, medals and diplomas. We will award cups to three prize-winning teams," said Zhanat Zhumabekov, deputy head of the Regional Specialized School for Disabled Sports in the Karaganda region.
Nurai Kabylda, a 13-year-old Karaganda woman, has cerebral palsy. Despite the diagnosis, she loves sports and strives to win as many medals as possible.
– I've been practicing boccia for the second year. I like this sport. I travel to different cities and countries for competitions. I have already won many medals and cups. Thanks to the sport, I was able to get out of the wheelchair, my arms became stronger, and there was more discipline. I also found a friend who also does boccia. I want to motivate the children so that they don't give up and play sports," says Nuray.
Ruslan Khairutdinov came to the festival from Temirtau. He is a student of school No. 16.
– I'm going to participate in a bowling competition today. The main thing here is to understand the trajectory of the ball, but in general, you need to have a good eye. A master class will be held for us. I hope my team will play well today and we will win. I wish all participants success," said the 11-year-old student.
The festival organizers hope that the event will become an annual event.
