From February 5 to 7, 2025, training for girls is being held as part of the “AI Skills Accelerator for Girls” program. The opening of the event was attended by Zhaslan Madiev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Natalia Mochu, Regional Director for the CIS Region of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in an online format.
The training was organized to improve the digital skills of girls and women in modern artificial intelligence technologies. The ITU Development Sector and EY are working together to implement this two-year program. The program is aimed at ensuring access to advanced technological education.
“The head of state pays special attention to the development of artificial intelligence in our country. We plan to introduce AI into all spheres of our lives. We have set a big goal - to train 1 million people in 5 years. This includes 500,000 schoolchildren, 300,000 students, 90,000 civil servants, 80,000 corporate sector representatives and 30,000 representatives of other sectors. Certain pilot projects are being implemented in all areas. In addition, we plan to introduce requirements for mandatory training in AI for current and future civil servants. We will launch this pilot project in March of this year. As you can see, AI training programs are provided for all categories of citizens,” Minister Zhaslan Madiev noted.
The program will help girls master digital, ethical and managerial skills, allowing them to develop innovative solutions and use AI to solve problems in their communities.
Over two years, the program will achieve the following results:
1,000 girls will undergo offline seminars, receive education, receive mentoring support and expert assistance.
The seminars will cover 12 countries around the world (2 countries from each IEO region).
Participants will take part in a competition, and the winners will have the opportunity to travel to the IEO international AI event.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the IEO Development Sector and EY partnership.
“Developing skills in the field of artificial intelligence opens up new opportunities for girls. This will help them not only master advanced technologies, but also use them for the benefit of their communities. This program is a step towards a more inclusive and equitable digital future,” said Natalia Mochu, Regional Director of the ITU for the CIS region.
The first participating countries for 2024–2025 are India, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malta and Paraguay.
