More than 100 events are planned in the Karaganda region as part of the Year of Working Professions. They are aimed at increasing the prestige of working professions, their popularization among young people, and the development of a vocational education system. There will be changes in colleges. Exhibitions, contests, forums and much more are planned.
We discussed this in more detail at the staff meeting.
– The Head of State declared 2025 the Year of Working Professions. The goal is to raise the prestige of work so that every citizen knows that work is decent pay and respect in society. An appropriate plan has been developed in our region, which includes more than 100 events that promote active interaction between employers, educational institutions and youth," said the head of the region, Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.
There are 52 colleges in the region that train workers in 126 specialties. They have over 33,000 students. The government order is constantly growing. Dual education is developing. Colleges are being clustered in eight priority areas: education, construction, transport, energy, IT and communications, mining, light industry, and agriculture. A reference college has been identified for each industry.
Gulbakyt Zhunusova, Head of the Department of Education, said that this year, with the assistance of enterprises, two modern competence centers and 10 workshops equipped with advanced equipment will be created in colleges. Workshops and laboratories on water management and tourism are planned to be opened in Balkhash in accordance with regional demand.
International partnership will be developed. Two higher polytechnic colleges must pass international accreditation – in Karaganda and Temirtau.
Colleges will continue to open new specialties that are in demand on the labor market. There are also projects aimed at developing entrepreneurial initiatives of young people.
The focus is also on career guidance. Specialized classes in the fields of medicine, agro, IT, service, etc. are currently operating in schools in the region. Working professions will be popularized from a young age, and preschoolers will be taken on field trips to local businesses.
This year, an exhibition of achievements of working professions, forums of young workers and employers are planned in the region.
Asem Dzhunuspekova, Head of the Department for the Coordination of Employment and Social Programs, spoke about new opportunities on the Electronic Labor Exchange. She introduced a "digital supermarket" where all public services are concentrated on one platform. A new Mansap Kompasy platform has also been launched to help with employment.
According to the head of the department, 3,395 people are expected to be trained in new professions in the Karaganda region this year at short-term courses. In particular, training will be conducted at the request of employers and at the workplace.
The Jumys Tap project will continue to help socially vulnerable groups find employment. This year, the Altyn Zhas program is also launching, aimed at supporting the employment of pensioners.
Ermaganbet Bulekpayev gave instructions on holding the Year of Working Professions. In the future, the regional plan needs to be updated and expanded, he noted. We need to focus on improving staff training and the involvement of employers in this area.
