Kazakhstan has launched the transformation of technical and vocational education. In the Karaganda region, as well as in all regions of the country, a plan has been developed for the Year of Working Professions, including measures to increase the prestige of working professions, the quality of training, and expand interaction with employers.
— Colleges in the Karaganda region began preparing for the Year of Working Professions at the end of 2024. I am sure that this Year will activate not only the collectives of colleges that train highly qualified workers, but also our entire society, so that graduates of secondary schools actively choose working professions," said Meruert Mamirova, Director of the Karaganda College of Technology and Service.
Cooperation with colleges and universities in the region is being developed by regional enterprises, providing a base for practice and internships. There is also dual training: large companies participate in the training of the specialists they need, followed by employment.

— We support this initiative. Considering that our factory is located in Sarani and there is a shortage of qualified employees in the region, we are taking the first steps. We work with colleges and universities to ensure that students complete internships and internships with us. Current employees are trained at advanced training courses," said Shahadad Ashirbek, Adviser to the director of the Silk Road Electronics LLP household Appliance plant in Sarani.
— We have developed an Atlas of professions where IT specialties predominate, but we are also working on training personnel for metallurgy, mining, and construction industries. In order to attract young people to gain working professions, we are engaged in early career guidance. Therefore, we have recently held championships among schoolchildren of the Karaganda region, and there is also a Baby Skills project among kindergartens," said Assel Saparova, director of the Karaganda Technical and Construction College.

— We really need qualified personnel, highly qualified operators. We are interested that during 2025 and the following years, the government pays increased attention to the training of working professions. All the equipment that is currently being purchased is automated, so we need really qualified personnel," said Alexander Ustachshchikov, director of the Tengri Tyres LLP tire factory in Sarani.
