The Karaganda region is striving to become a training center for workers. Clusterization of colleges has begun in the region with the definition of reference institutions. The link between education and production is being strengthened to prepare in-demand professions.
What is needed to enhance the image of working professions and improve personnel training – these issues were discussed by the head of the region, Ermaganbet Bulekpayev, at a meeting with the heads of leading colleges.
– The Head of State declared this year the Year of Working Professions. This is very important for us: the region is industrial, new production facilities are opening and new jobs are being created. There is great hope for you! There are not enough workers. The task now is not only to train graduates of local schools, but also to bring students from other regions to our colleges," said the governor of the region. – We are ready to do everything necessary for this. If we have chosen supporting colleges, they need to be fully equipped. And then demand both the quality of education and employment.
52 colleges in the region train workers in 126 specialties. More than 300 medium and large enterprises participate in joint personnel training.
According to the Zhas Maman project, 14 competence centers equipped with modern equipment operate on the basis of colleges. This year, it is planned to open two new ones: in water management – at Temirtau Higher Polytechnic College, in fire and rescue disciplines and paramedicine - at Karaganda Higher Polytechnic College.
Problematic issues related to the material and technical base, the development of dual education, and the shortage of dormitories were also raised at the meeting.
The heads of colleges spoke about the prospects.
– Based on the name, some people think that we produce specialists for agriculture. But this is not the case. In this field, we have only one specialty – machine operators, and we also produce welders, mechanics, and cooks. We are located in Prishakhtinsk, mostly local guys study," says Mubarak Khasenov, director of the Karaganda Agrotechnical College. – We carry out career guidance work under the brand: where I was born, I came in handy there. We did an analysis of local production, and we noticed that there are many service companies in Prishakhtinsk. We started to establish contact with them, we conclude contracts.
In Sarani, they want to open specialized welding classes for schoolchildren. In addition, with the development of the industrial zone, specialists who had never been trained before were needed.
– New enterprises are being built. We also try to keep up with the times and discover new and sought-after specialties. We work closely with the enterprises of the Saran industrial zone. We are planning to open specialties: "technology of polymer production", "installation and operation of refrigerating compressor machines and installations", "pipe production". We want young people from Saran not to go to study in other regions and to come to us from other cities," said Alina Yessimkhanova, director of the Saran Technical College.
Ermaganbet Bulekpayev instructed to develop a Roadmap for the flagship colleges. It was also mentioned about the need for a long-term comprehensive analysis of the labor market in order to properly form a government order. In the future, the head of the region will continue to meet with college leaders on a regular basis.
