As part of a comprehensive program to improve the water resources situation in the Akmola region, work is underway to strengthen the banks of the Zhabai River and deepen the bottom of its channel along the coast of the village of Balkashino, Sandyktau district.
Currently, work has been completed to remove the fertile vegetation layer along the riverbed. Work is underway to improve three sections of the river. The work is being carried out in two shifts, involving 25 pieces of equipment. The work is scheduled to be completed this year.
“The project will strengthen the protection of coastal areas and increase the stability of the ecosystem. We are ensuring the safety of settlements along the river, while strictly observing environmental and technical standards,” said Kairolla Zhaksylykov, site manager of Tselinhydrotech LLP.
The main work on improving the Zhabai Riverbed will be completed by March of this year, and the improvement of channels and the construction of dams will continue after the period of threat of spring floods. Construction equipment duty will be organized in the spring.
It should be noted that six projects are being implemented in the Akmola region to reconstruct and build hydraulic structures. Work is underway to strengthen the banks and deepen the bottom of the Zhabay, Chagalaly and Kalkutan rivers, and to build protective dams in the Zhibek Zholy village, which will prevent the spread of floods and ensure the safety of local residents. In addition, work is underway to modernize water supply structures in the Damsa village of Shortandy district and the Chapaevskaya dam in the Zhaksy district, which will increase their carrying capacity and reduce the risk of flooding. The activities are being implemented at the expense of the corporate fund "Support Kazakhstan Fund".
