Today, the Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapayev held a meeting with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA and the Japan Organization for Metallurgical and Energy Security JOGMEC.

JICA is a state organization that plans and implements technical assistance programs for developing countries. It helps partner countries solve various socio-economic problems, including energy conservation issues
Since 2011, Kazakhstan has been cooperating with JICA in the field of energy conservation and energy efficiency. The organization supported the Ministry of Industry and Construction in developing and implementing energy conservation policies, as well as in creating a system for monitoring and controlling energy efficiency. Based on the experience of Japan, the main instrument of energy conservation policy - the State Energy Register (SER) - was created in Kazakhstan.
The Japanese Metallurgical and Energy Security Organization JOGMEC combines the functions of the former Japan National Oil Corporation. and the former Japan Metals and Mining Agency.
In August 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Construction signed a memorandum of cooperation with JOGMEC to develop cooperation in the fields of geological exploration, mineral extraction and processing.
