On March 23, 2025, 307 Kazakh tourists arrived in Samarkand on the next tourist train “Zhibek Zholy” on the route “Almaty-Turkestan-Tashkent-Samarkand-Shymkent-Almaty”. They were traditionally welcomed by the Uzbek side in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The guests familiarized themselves with the rich historical heritage of the ancient city, culture and tourist attractions.

The “Zhibek Zholy” project is one of the leading tourist destinations in Central Asia, linking Almaty, Turkestan, Tashkent, Samarkand and Shymkent. It is aimed at developing regional tourism, strengthening cultural ties and creating a comfortable and safe transportation system for tourists.  

This project was organized within the framework of agreements between the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the development of tourism in the region.
