Kazakh delegation took part in the 63rd session of the UN Commission on the status of women
11.04.2025 05:17:35 308In the period from 11 to 22 March this year, the 63rd session of the UN Commission on the status of women is held in New York, where the Kazakh delegation headed by the Executive secretary of the Ministry of labor and social protection of population the RK Kurmangalieva A.D. took part.
The 63rd session with the participation of the UN Secretary-General, heads of state, governments of UN member states, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations is devoted to the theme "Social protection systems, access to state services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls". Speakers and participants have the opportunity to speak, hold discussions and interactive dialogues on actual issues of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
On March 15 this year in the framework of the 63rd session of the first governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in collaboration with the regional office structure of "UN women" for the countries of Europe and Central Asia organized a side event on the theme "No one should be forgotten: social protection in the countries of Central Asia". This event is relevant and important in the development of gender equality and the empowerment of women in the countries of the Central Asian region. The moderator of the side event was the representative of Kazakhstan Executive secretary of the Ministry of labor Kurmangalieva A.D.
In her speech, Kurmangalieva A.D. briefed the participants and guests on the progress made by Kazakhstan in the field of social protection, access to state services in order to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women. It was also noted that RK has ratified the fundamental international documents: the UN Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, the Beijing Declaration and platform for action and the Sustainable development goals, the country has created a strong institutional framework and expanded the political, economic rights and opportunities of Kazakh women. RK in the ranking of gender equality of the World economic forum in 2017 took 52nd place among 144 countries of the world, in the Global Competitiveness Index in terms of "Women's participation in the labor force" is in the top 30.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Omurbekova A.S., Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Narbayeva T.K., representatives of the Permanent missions of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan under the UN and others shared the experience of their countries.
During the side event, participants constructively engaged in a dialogue on the role and importance of women in the modern world, as well as proposed conceptual visions and recommendations to enhance interaction on priority issues to ensure the social protection of women and girls in the region.
At the end of the 63rd session, Agreed conclusions will be adopted.
