Servicemen of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan have once again proven that physical fitness and fighting spirit are the key to outstanding achievements not only in service but also in elite sports.
Kazakhstani fencer, senior physical training and sports specialist, Corporal Ruslan Kurbanov won a silver medal at the prestigious Epee Fencing Grand Prix held in Bogotá, Colombia.
In the semifinal, Kurbanov showed true fighting spirit, narrowly defeating Uzbekistan’s Vadim Anokhin with a score of 15:14. In the final match, he faced Japan’s Akira Komata and lost 10:15, earning an honorable second place on the podium. Bronze medals went to Vadim Anokhin and Luigi Middleton of France.
Another impressive result came from Corporal Yerlik Sertai, also a senior physical training specialist, who finished in the top 10, taking eighth place.
The international achievements of the National Guard athletes are the result of dedicated training, the professionalism of their instructors, and systematic efforts to promote sports within the National Guard. Participation in such high-level competitions strengthens combat spirit, raises the prestige of military service, and inspires the younger generation to choose the path of national defense.
Guardsmen continue to represent Kazakhstan with confidence—both on duty and on the sports field—honorably defending the dignity of their country and the law enforcement troops.
