Brasília, May 20, 2025 – At the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil, Ambassador Bolat Nussupov received a delegation from the municipal parliament of Pará. The meeting was held at the initiative of Mr. Wagno da Silva Godoy, Mayor of the city of Itupiranga in the state of Pará, within the framework of the Congress of Municipalities and Cities of Brazil, taking place in the Brazilian capital.
The agenda included discussions on expanding Kazakhstan’s regional cooperation with the state of Pará in the areas of economy, trade, agriculture, and the mining industry. A key topic was the shared interest in strengthening interregional cooperation in preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will take place in November in Belém, the capital of Pará. Given Brazil’s federal structure, regional cooperation is an important element in enhancing bilateral relations.
Currently, there are established regional partnerships between the Karaganda region and the state of Bahia (since 2021), and between the Almaty region and the state of Rio Grande do Sul (since 2024). A memorandum of partnership and cooperation between the state of Santa Catarina and the East Kazakhstan region is expected to be signed later this year.
Additional information: The state of Pará is located in northern Brazil. Its economy is based on agriculture, livestock, and mineral extraction. The state cultivates and processes Brazil nuts, coffee, cassava, corn, jute, rice, tobacco, and black pepper.
