On November 5, 2025, the "Clean Thursday" ("Taza beysenbi") environmental campaign continued in Shymkent's Turansky District. The event aimed to draw residents' attention to environmental protection issues, foster environmental awareness, maintain cleanliness in their neighborhoods, and improve public spaces. The campaign was another step in the city's systematic efforts to improve its environmental conditions and foster a sense of responsibility among residents for cleanliness.
The cleanup day took place in the courtyard of an apartment building on Adyrbekova Street. More than 30 people participated, including students, teachers, activists, and local residents. The organizers provided all participants with the necessary equipment—rakes, shovels, brooms, garbage bags, and gloves. The work was carried out systematically: one group cleaned the area, another cleared ditches and canals, and a third collected and sorted the trash.
Participants cleared ditches and drains of debris, sediment, and foreign objects, ensuring free flow of water and preventing potential flooding. Lawns and flower beds were tidied up, removing dry grass, debris, and plant debris. This not only improved the aesthetics of the courtyard but also created a comfortable and safe environment for residents, especially children and the elderly.
Young people and students noted that participating in the campaign not only allowed them to make a concrete contribution to the city's improvement but also developed a sense of collective responsibility. Working together outdoors develops teamwork skills, teaches them to delegate responsibilities, plan actions, and see the results of their efforts. Every visible result—a clean yard, well-maintained lawns, cleared ditches—becomes a motivator for further action.
Yerbol Baikonysov, deputy executive secretary of the city branch of the Amanat party, took part in the event and addressed the city's residents:
"We urge Shymkent residents to take care of the city's cleanliness. After all, cleanliness is the key to health. Therefore, we must systematically implement such events to make Shymkent a truly green city. When our surroundings are clean, we become cleaner spiritually and environmentally, and only then can we talk about building a true nation," he emphasized.
It's worth noting that these cleanup days have been held regularly in Shymkent since the beginning of 2025. As of early November, 43 such events had already been organized. As a result of these events, approximately 40 tons of waste were removed from the city's courtyards, streets, and ditches. More than 3,000 city residents participated, making a significant contribution to improving the urban environment through their efforts.
Particular attention was paid to the educational aspect of the event. By participating in the cleanup, students and young people learn the skills of sorting and properly disposing of waste, learning to care for green spaces, and being environmentally responsible. Such events instill in young people the habit of maintaining order and practicing environmental responsibility in their daily lives.
Participants noted that working on the cleanup day brings moral satisfaction. The visible results of their labor—clean yards, manicured lawns, cleared ditches—inspire new efforts and create a sense of personal contribution to the city's improvement. Importantly, the event brings together people of different ages and backgrounds: students, schoolchildren, retirees, activists, and local residents work together, share experiences, learn to collaborate, and help each other.
The event's organizers also conducted outreach activities. Participants learned about waste sorting, recycling, and green space maintenance. Students had the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice by cleaning ditches, removing trash, and maintaining lawns. This helps foster a sustainable environmental culture and a conscious attitude toward the environment among young people.
According to one of the cleanup participants, a college student:
"We cleaned up our courtyard and the surrounding areas. Keeping our surroundings clean is our contribution to the city's future. If everyone maintains order, our city will become beautiful, cozy, and safe. It's gratifying to see the results of our work and know that we're doing something important for all residents," she shared.
The "Clean Thursday" campaign in Shymkent demonstrates that even small efforts from each individual can lead to significant results. Teamwork, attention to cleanliness, and the care of green spaces make the city cozy, attractive, and comfortable for all residents.
Thus, on November 5, 2025, more than 30 areas in Shymkent's Turansky District were cleaned, a significant amount of trash was collected, and lawns, ditches, and flower beds were tidied up as part of the "Taza Beysenbi" (Cleaning the City) campaign. Such events raise the level of environmental awareness among city residents, foster the habit of caring for the city, unite residents of different generations, and promote civic responsibility.
The organizers noted that such events need to be held on a regular basis to keep the city clean and tidy. Regular cleanup days foster a strong habit of cleanliness among residents and also instill in young people a sense of responsibility for public spaces.
The event not only improved the appearance of the courtyard and streets, but also strengthened the sense of community among participants, developed environmental awareness, and increased citizen interest in preserving natural and urban spaces.
Thus, the November 5, 2025, event became another successful example of how the combined efforts of residents, students, activists, and authorities contribute to the improvement of the city, the development of an environmental culture, and the care of green spaces. Over the course of the year, similar events were organized 43 times, approximately 40 tons of waste were removed from the city, and over 3,000 people participated. This confirms that joint efforts by city residents can make Shymkent a clean, comfortable, and green city.
