In Shymkent, systematic measures aimed at fostering environmental awareness continue as part of the national program "Taza Kazakstan," implemented at the initiative of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. As part of the program, large-scale sanitation and educational campaigns were organized today at all educational institutions in the city, among young people, and throughout Shymkent.

Environmental education in school

A meaningful event was held at Secondary School No. 137 in Shymkent as part of the "Taza Kazakhstan" program. Elementary school students and students in grades 5–9 debated environmental issues, paper recycling, and the benefits and harms of chemicals.

According to school principal Elmira Kantaeva, environmental education is systematically implemented at the school. Class hours, open lessons, and thematic meetings are held regularly, and students creatively express their love of nature through drawings and exhibitions.

The school also runs dombra, chess, and arts and crafts clubs, which engage over a hundred students in a comprehensive educational process. One of the school's long-standing traditions is the tree-planting drive in the "Graduates' Alley." Every year, graduates contribute to the greening of the school courtyard. Every Saturday, a "Cleanup Day" is held, during which students clear the school grounds and adjacent canals of litter.

Debates on "Taza Kazakhstan" and "Taza Chemistry" were organized for high school students, discussing the impact of chemicals on human health and the environment. The importance of recycling waste by making useful products from wastepaper was also explained. The school parliament also actively participates in these initiatives.

A practical ecology lesson at a college

Miras College hosted an environmental event titled "Waste Sorting – the Key to a Clean Future." The eco-lesson was led by Erkebulan Ashiraliyev, first-year student and Minister of the Ecology and Labor student faction. All first-year students participated.

During the meeting, waste sorting practices and the harm caused to nature and wildlife by uncontrolled waste disposal were thoroughly explained. Through role-playing games and practical tasks, students learned how to properly sort plastic, paper, metal, glass, and organic waste.

According to the college's director, Nurgul Abuova, recycling is one of the key tools for environmental conservation in developed countries. The school holds a cleanup day every Wednesday, and students actively participate in cleanup efforts.

Youth environmental initiatives

As part of the "Taza Kazakhstan" program, another environmental campaign was organized in Shymkent. Around 200 young people gathered outside the Youth Resource Center and held a flash mob aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility. University students and young volunteers participated in the campaign.

The flash mob emphasized that cleanliness should not be a one-time event, but a way of life. This initiative aims to increase social responsibility among young people.

Cleanup work in the village of Aktas

As part of Cleanup Day, city youth carried out large-scale sanitation work in the village of Aktas in the Turansky District. Around 200 volunteers cleared ravines and open spaces of trash. The district administration provided the participants with the necessary equipment.

According to Zhanserik Zhuman, director of the Shymkent Youth Resource Center, "Taza Kazakhstan" is not just a cleanup campaign, but a significant project that unites young people and fosters environmental awareness and civic responsibility.

The events are aimed at raising environmental awareness among the younger generation and fostering cleanliness habits in everyday life. Systematic work under the "Taza Kazakhstan" program contributes to maintaining the cleanliness of Shymkent and strengthening environmental responsibility in society.
