Political Reforms and Interreligious Dialogue on the Agenda of the Meeting between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan and Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle

On 13 February 2026, at the initiative of the Embassy, a meeting took place between the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Timur Primbetov, and His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization of the Holy See.

During the meeting, the Ambassador briefed his interlocutor on the wide-ranging political reforms currently underway in the Republic of Kazakhstan, aimed at modernizing public administration and strengthening democratic institutions. Particular attention was devoted to the adoption of a new Constitution, as well as to Kazakhstan’s initiatives to promote interreligious dialogue, including the convening of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

For his part, His Eminence Cardinal L. Tagle welcomed Kazakhstan’s constitutional reforms, underscoring their importance for the further democratization of society, the strengthening of social justice, and the advancement of a “Just Kazakhstan.” The Cardinal emphasized the need to sustain efforts to preserve social cohesion and to foster dialogue among representatives of different faiths.

The parties also exchanged views on the development of cooperation and the strengthening of spiritual and humanitarian ties between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Holy See.
