Strasbourg, February 19, 2026 – Ms. Anel Bakytbekkyzy, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Strasbourg, held a meeting with Ms. Sonia Sirtori, Director of Committees of the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

During the meeting, the PACE representative was briefed in detail on the progress of constitutional reform in Kazakhstan.

A.Bakytbekkyzy outlined the main stages of the large-scale political transformations in our country, noting their momentous nature. A special focus was placed on the systematic renewal of the Basic Law, its adaptation to modern challenges and the strategic objectives of state development in the context of digital transformation.

Thus, the draft new Constitution establishes a modern, balanced, and legally sustainable state model based on the rule of law, public accountability, and the priority of human rights.

In addition, during the meeting, current political issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda between Kazakhstan and PACE were discussed.
