From 1 September 2026, mandatory digital labelling of beer and beer-based beverages in glass bottles will be introduced in Kazakhstan. Products manufactured or imported after this date must bear a Data Matrix labelling code.
Beer labelling is being introduced in stages: from 1 February 2026 – for products in kegs; from 1 September 2026 – for products in glass bottles; and from 1 January 2027 – for products in metal cans. Going forward, full product traceability will be ensured through the electronic execution and confirmation of documents when products are transferred between supply-chain participants.
The industry is already demonstrating its readiness for the new requirements. More than 16,392 supply-chain participants are registered in the National Goods Labelling and Traceability System.
Digital labelling will make it possible to trace products from the manufacturer or importer through to retail sale, helping to enhance market transparency.
What market participants need to do
Supply-chain participants must register in the National Goods Labelling and Traceability System via the tanba.markirovka.kz portal and begin registering product cards.
It is recommended that registration be completed in advance in order to obtain labelling codes.
Unlabelled stocks of beer and beer-based beverages manufactured before the mandatory labelling date may be sold for one calendar year in accordance with the established list.
