By Order of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 285-н/қ dated July 29, 2026, the national technical regulation “Requirements for Main Pipelines for the Transportation of Ethane and Propane Fractions in Liquefied State” was approved.
The technical regulation establishes mandatory requirements for main pipelines used to transport ethane and propane fractions in a liquefied state, with a saturated vapor pressure exceeding 0.2 MPa at a temperature of +20 °C, within the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These requirements apply to their design (including engineering surveys), construction (reconstruction), operation, conservation, and decommissioning, as well as to the rules for assessing their conformity.
The technical regulation of the Republic of Kazakhstan was developed by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the implementation of the project “Construction of Main Pipelines (Ethane, Propane) in a Single Corridor in the Atyrau Region.” The project is aimed at ensuring the transportation of ethane and propane fractions in a liquefied state from the facilities of Tengizchevroil LLP and the gas separation complex under construction at the Tengiz field to petrochemical enterprises in the NINT Special Economic Zone in Karabatan.
The adoption of the technical regulation provides the regulatory framework for implementing the above-mentioned project and establishing mandatory requirements for the relevant main pipelines.
The technical regulation shall enter into force ten calendar days after the date of its first official publication.
