Ambassador of Kazakhstan Meets with Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vasile Tofan

Chisinau, 21 August 2026. Ambassador of Kazakhstan Almat Aidarbekov met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vasile Tofan. The meeting focused on current issues of Kazakhstan-Moldova relations and prospects for their further development.
The Kazakh diplomat has conveyed congratulations to Vasile Tofan on his appointment as Prime Minister and wished him every success in his endeavors.
The Prime Minister expressed Moldova’s readiness to further expand Kazakhstan-Moldova ties, particularly in the trade, economic and investment sectors, highlighting the significant untapped potential in these areas. In this regard, the sides underscored the importance of intensifying contacts between the business communities of the two countries and implementing joint projects.
Ambassador Aidarbekov emphasized the importance of the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Astana, as well as the first official visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Mihai Popșoi to Kazakhstan in 2025.
During the meeting, the Ambassador briefed the Prime Minister on the current state of bilateral relations and the ongoing political transformations in Kazakhstan, including the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the upcoming Kurultai elections scheduled for 23 August 2026.
In conclusion, the sides emphasized the importance of maintaining regular political dialogue and giving further practical substance to bilateral relations, primarily through expanding trade and economic ties, business contacts and the implementation of mutually beneficial initiatives.
