A meeting of regional assets was held in Uralsk, where the Governor of the West Kazakhstan region Nariman Toregaliev reported on the socio-economic development of the region and set the main tasks in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at an expanded meeting of the Government.
At the end of 2024, investments in fixed assets increased by 4.7% and amounted to 712.9 billion tenge. In the first nine months of 2024, the gross regional product increased by 1.9% and amounted to 3.4 trillion tenge.
“One of the important areas of economic development is the promotion of exports and reduction of dependence on imports. In general, the volume of exports in 2024 amounted to 6.4 billion. US dollars. It is important to note that at the end of the year the region has a positive trade balance, that is, exports exceed imports. However, given that the bulk of exports belong to oil and gas products, it is necessary to continue the development of the processing industry in the region. "Attracting investments, enterprises should increase the load and prioritize the production of export-oriented products. In the next five years, 59 investment projects will be implemented in the region, 26 of which are planned to be implemented this year, which will provide 800 jobs," Nariman Toregaliev noted.
In order to support small and medium-sized businesses, systematic measures are planned to increase their share in the total regional product to 40% by 2028.
Initiatives are also planned to improve the social sphere and healthcare. In particular, the regional department for coordination of employment and social programs, as well as city and district akimats, were instructed to create jobs, involve the unemployed in vocational training and social projects, and strengthen work on employment of the population.
In the field of health care, the issue of building inter-district hospitals in the Borli and Kaztalov districts, as well as major repairs of four health facilities in the Uralsk and Karatobe districts, is being considered.
Much attention was paid to education issues: in 2025, the construction of 17 new schools is planned, 7 of which are under construction. These measures will allow the elimination of 8 dilapidated and 7 three-shift schools. In 2023-2024, 22 new schools were commissioned in the region, three of which were built within the framework of the "Cozy School" project.
Infrastructure development and housing construction also remain a priority. In 2025, it is planned to repair 212 kilometers of roads of regional and district significance, for which 42.2 billion tenge will be allocated.
Also, at a meeting of the regional asset, the regional akim instructed to complete all facilities within the framework of the "Modernization of Rural Healthcare" project this year, as well as to provide settlements with 100 percent clean drinking water.
In addition, the regional akim noted that the Head of State declared this year the Year of Working Professions and that various events aimed at supporting working professions will be held in the region in this direction.
The development of the region covers all sectors, including agriculture, digitalization, and rural support. During the meeting, representatives of the public expressed their support for the announced initiatives.
The head of the Ural Trade and Industrial Company LLP Valery Krylov noted the importance of the tasks set and emphasized that their implementation will contribute to further strengthening the economy and social sphere of the West Kazakhstan region.
"The President touched upon important issues such as the modernization of the energy sector, the implementation of new projects in industry, the development of infrastructure, etc. All this will contribute to strengthening the country's economy. As entrepreneurs, we support all the initiatives of the Head of State," said Valery Krylov.
