Repayment of tax debts due to accounts receivable: a new regulatory tool 28.08.2025
The tax authorities remind that the current legislation provides for a mechanism for paying off tax debts at the expense of taxpayers' accounts receivable. This tool is aimed at reducing debt owed to the budget and ensures more efficient fulfillment of tax obligations. In case of detection of overdue accounts receivable from the debtor, the tax authority has the right to initiate the procedure for its collection and send the funds received to repay tax obligations. At the same time, the use of this mechanism is associated with certain risks: possible disputes with counterparties, litigation and financial difficulties in the activities of companies. The procedure is regulated within the framework of the Tax Code and the civil legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. To reduce risks, it is recommended that businesses keep timely records of accounts receivable and document them. The tax authorities continue to work on improving law enforcement practices to ensure a balance between the interests of the state and sustainable business development.
