National Guardsmen Foil a Drug-Related Crime in Astana 02.02.2026
In Astana, servicemen of military unit 5573 of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan thwarted a drug-related crime while patrolling the Baikonur district of the capital.During street patrols, the head of the patrol detail, Private Dauren Omirbek, together with patrolmen Privates Dauyr Ashimbek and Dosymzhan Dauletkhan, noticed suspicious behavior by unidentified individuals. Two citizens exited a vehicle and, after looking around, attempted to flee after retrieving an unknown item from under the snow.Assessing the situation, Private Dauren Omirbek immediately gave chase and detained one of the suspects. The other two managed to escape the scene. The incident was promptly reported to the senior patrol officer, after which the duty service notified the police via the 102 hotline.Case materials have been handed over to the investigative task force, and the detainee has been placed in a temporary detention facility in accordance with established procedures.This incident clearly demonstrates the high level of training and vigilance of National Guard servicemen. On a daily basis, guardsmen perform public order protection duties, making a significant contribution to combating illicit drug trafficking. An Attempt to Smuggle Drugs to a Convict Was Prevented in a UIS Facility in the Kyzylorda RegionAn attempt to deliver prohibited substances to a convicted individual was prevented at Institution No. 60 of the Department of the Penal Enforcement System (UIS) in the Kyzylorda Region. An acquaintance of the convict tried to bring in a forbidden item by concealing it in the strap of a bag. Thanks to the vigilance of the staff, the attempt was promptly thwarted.During the inspection of the parcel, Senior Instructor of Military Unit No. 5547, N. Menlibek, noticed a suspicious object. A check was carried out with the assistance of a service search dog, during which a carefully wrapped polyethylene package with a strong odor, externally resembling a plant-based substance, was found hidden in the bag strap.Officers of the institution’s operational department immediately took appropriate measures. An оперативно-investigative group from the city police department was called to the scene. The substance was seized, and a relevant report was drawn up against the individual who attempted to deliver the parcel.According to the conclusion of a forensic chemical examination, the seized substance was identified as dried marijuana. A clean slate for micro and small businesses 02.02.2026
In order to support the economy and entrepreneurship, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has decided to adjust the tax administration in relation to micro and small businesses.According to the decision of December 17, 2025, it is planned to approve:- Rules for the liquidation and termination of micro and small business entities;- Rules for writing off penalties and fines subject to payment of tax arrears incurred as of January 1, 2026 and settled before April 1, 2026, as well as penalties for late registration for value-added tax.These draft Rules were published on the Open NPAs portal for public discussion on January 12, 2026. The planned effective date is February 2026.Additional organizational and operational measures 1. Desk control Desk control will not be carried out with respect to tax reports submitted before December 17, 2025, for tax obligations for tax periods up to January 1, 2026, except in the following cases: - taxation of income of non-residents; - submission of additional tax reports for the specified periods after December 17, 2025; - withdrawal of tax reports after December 17, 2025; - submission by the taxpayer of applications and (or) requirements provided for by tax legislation requiring desk control; - in relation to the service recipient's suppliers within the framework of the state service for VAT refund from the budget.The limit is set for the date of December 17, 2025 in order to minimize the risks of submitting a simplified declaration for the 2nd half of 2025 and other declarations for the 4th quarter of 2025 without reflecting tax obligations.2. Tax audits Tax audits for tax periods prior to January 1, 2026 will not be conducted, except for: - inspections scheduled before January 1, 2026; - counter tax audits; - checks assigned to: - within the framework of the criminal procedure legislation; - according to the acts and requirements of the Prosecutor's office; - to determine mutual settlements with debtors; - for the execution of orders on the suspension of spending operations at the cash register; - in relation to subsurface users; - according to the statements and demands of taxpayers; - complaints about the results of tax audits; - when submitting or withdrawing tax reports after December 17, 2025; - to confirm violations detected by desk control. Lawsuits Filing of lawsuits is stopped: - on the invalidation of transactions concluded before January 1, 2026 between micro and small businesses; - on the invalidation of registration (re-registration) carried out before January 1, 2026. An “Anti-Nuclear” Exhibition Launched at the Strasbourg International Lyceum 02.02.2026
Strasbourg, February 2, 2026 – With the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a photo exhibition dedicated to the devastating consequences of nuclear tests caused by nuclear tests at the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site has been organized at one of Strasbourg’s leading international educational institutions, the Lycée International des Pontonniers.As part of his project work, Kazakh student of the Lyceum, Amirkhan Tolybek, presented an exhibition to the students and faculty that zoom off visitors back to the 1950s and reveals the frightening secrets associated with nuclear testing.“Behind the presented images lies the history of an entire nation, the Kazakh people, as well as the fates and tragedies of several generations of my compatriots. These images show the tragic consequences of more than 450 tests conducted over more than 40 years at the Semipalatinsk Test Site. Through these photographs, I would like to draw attention to the fact that the current generation should never encounter this deadly weapon, as the consequences of the tests cannot be eliminated quickly, and the 'echoes of the explosions' can be heard even in great-grandchildren", - A.Tolybek addressed the audience.Through extensive presentation, students of the Lyceum had the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the history and catastrophic consequences of the emergence of nuclear weapons, as well as experienced the tragic and difficult fate of the Kurchatov city.Exhibition visitors were informed about the “Nevada-Semey” movement in Kazakhstan, as well as the significance of the date of August 29 (the day of the first nuclear test in 1949 and the day the test site was closed by sovereign Kazakhstan in 1991) which by the decision of the United Nations, recognizing Kazakhstan’s contribution, is celebrated as the International Day against Nuclear Tests.Presentation participants were also informed about one of the foreign policy priorities of independent Kazakhstan – its commitment to nuclear disarmament, including key international initiatives undertaken by a State that has voluntarily renounced the world's fourth-largest nuclear arsenal.Founded in 1902, the Lycée International de Pontonnier is a part of the Strasbourg Academy and offers a baccalaureate program with international sections. On the beginning of compulsory labelling of beer and beer drinks 02.02.2026
According to the order “On determining the list of goods subject to labelling”, beer and beer drinks are included in the list of products subject to compulsory labelling in Kazakhstan from 1 February 2026. Producers and importers need to register in the labeling system before the requirements come into force.Digital labeling will ensure transparency of beer turnover, strengthen control over production and import, reduce illegal distribution of products and increase consumer protection.Deadlines for the introduction of mandatory labeling:- from February 1, 2026 - beer and beer beverages in kegs;- from February 1, 2026 - beer and beer drinks in bottles;- from January 1, 2027 - beer and beer beverages in cans.The manufacture and importation of beer and beer beverages without means of identification shall be prohibited as of February 1, 2026. QazETA is a state digital platform designed to provide foreign nationals with convenient, transparent, and secure access to key migration and related services under the “one-stop shop” principle (a unified digital window for foreigners).The project aimed to create a modern, user-friendly platform for foreigners interacting with the government authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as to improve the efficiency and quality of public service delivery.The QazETA platform is focused on:- simplifying procedures for entry into and stay of foreign nationals in the Republic of Kazakhstan;- creating a single digital entry point that ensures consistent interaction of foreign nationals with government services, from entry into the country to everyday services;- increasing transparency of processes, reducing application processing times, and improving service quality;- the digitalization of core migration procedures and their integration into mobile service;The platform is currently operating in pilot mode and the implementation of the platform will be carried out in phases. Currently, the following services are available:- issuance of electronic visas (e-Visa);- issuance of an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA);- obtaining the status of an electronic resident of the Republic of Kazakhstan (e-Residency);- issuance of certificates confirming the crossing of the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan by foreign nationals (including for the purpose of IMEI verification of mobile devices). Key services of the platform: Electronic visa (e-Visa)An electronic visa is a digital form of a state service for issuing visas to foreign nationals and stateless persons.Citizens of 104 countries may apply for a single-entry electronic visa under the following categories: "А3" (service), "А5" (investor), "В1","В2","В3", (business trip), "В9-1" (Digital Nomad Visa), "В10" (private travel), "В12" (tourist), "С12" (medical treatment). An electronic visa is issued on the basis of an electronically issued invitation (the invitation is issued by the territorial police authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan) and is valid only for the visa holder and does not apply to accompanying persons. In case of passport replacement, a new electronic visa must be obtained.Foreign nationals and stateless persons are permitted to enter and exit the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan using a valid electronic visa only through border crossing points of the international airports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) The ETA is intended for citizens of countries that are exempt from visa requirements of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The authorization is issued in electronic form.Foreign nationals planning to travel to Kazakhstan must submit an ETA application through the mobile application no later than 72 hours prior to travel. The validity period of the ETA is 180 days.The actual duration of stay of foreign nationals in Kazakhstan is regulated in accordance with the applicable migration legislation.At the same time, the issuance of an ETA does not guarantee entry into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The final decision on admission is made by the authorized state body of the Republic of Kazakhstan during border control procedures.The following categories are exempt from the requirement to obtain an ETA:- holders of diplomatic and service (official) passports;- members of official delegations;- representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan.During the pilot period, obtaining an ETA is recommended but not mandatory for citizens of countries exempt from the Republic of Kazakhstan’s visa requirements. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People’s Artist of Kazakhstan and a prominent representative of Kazakh traditional singing art, Danesh Rakyshev, the traditional song concert “Än salayın” was held at the Danesh Rakyshev Regional Philharmonic Hall at a high artistic level.The main purpose of the cultural event was to promote national vocal art, preserve the continuity of the traditional singing school, and widely introduce the public to the rich creative legacy of Danesh Rakyshev.The concert featured the creative ensembles of the Danesh Rakyshev Regional Philharmonic. In particular, the Zhetisu Dance Ensemble, the Zhetisu Sazy Folklore and Ethnographic Ensemble, as well as the Philharmonic’s leading soloists, performed on stage. Для закрепления полученных знаний со студентами была проведена познавательная викторина, в ходе которой участники смогли проверить свою правовую грамотность, проявить эрудицию и активность. Мероприятие прошло в живой и заинтересованной атмосфере. Информационный час способствовал формированию правовой культуры, развитию гражданского самосознания и пониманию того, что будущее общества начинается с личного решения каждого из нас.
