International Cooperation in the Sphere of School Education were Discussed at the Kazakh Foreign Ministry 21.05.2025
Astana, May 16, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermukhambet Konusbayev held a meeting with Hans Dewaele, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kazakhstan International School (KIS).During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed strengthening cooperation in the field of international education, enhancing intercultural understanding, and increasing opportunities to provide quality education for the children of Kazakhstan.Representatives of KIS noted that the school provides education with high international standards through the joint efforts of foreign and local teachers.As a result of the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding and expressed their intention to further develop partnership in the field of education.KIS is a private international school teaching according to the international standards. Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov arrived in Kostanay region on a working visit. As part of the visit, the head of government visited the city of Arkalyk, where special attention was paid to the implementation of the President's instructions aimed at modernizing the transport, energy, educational and medical infrastructure.Accompanied by the Akim of the region Kumar Aksakalov, the Prime Minister inspected key facilities where active renovation and construction work is currently underway.⸻Development of transport infrastructureOne of the priority areas has become the transport connectivity of the region. An airport restoration project is being implemented in Arkalyk. It is planned to build a modern terminal, reconstruct the runway, apron and taxiway. The airport will be able to receive aircraft such as AN-24, Q400 and CRJ 200 and provide a capacity of up to 70 passengers per hour.A project for the construction of the Center-West highway, which will pass through Arkalyk and connect the capital with the Trans-Caspian international route, was also presented. This transport corridor will increase connectivity between regions and strengthen the city's logistics potential.⸻Modernization of the heat supply systemModernization of heat power facilities continues in Arkalyk. To date, 17 km of heating networks have been replaced, and another 9.9 km are planned to be updated this year. The transition from fuel oil to coal has significantly reduced costs and ensured a stable heating season without emergency shutdowns. The work is being carried out in stages in order to further reduce the wear and tear of heating networks.⸻Development of social infrastructureAs part of the national project "Comfortable School", a new general education institution for 300 students was commissioned in Arkalyk. The educational institution is equipped with a modern material and technical base: a digital library, a STEM laboratory, robotics rooms and creative studios.Plans to strengthen higher education are being implemented. Arkalyk Pedagogical University named after Ybyrai Altynsarin is expanding its infrastructure. One of the buildings is being reconstructed to create a modern educational space. The project will increase the number of students from 2.6 to 5.2 thousand, as well as expand the range of educational and scientific programs.In healthcare, a major overhaul of the maternity hospital building of the Arkalyk Regional Hospital is underway. The roof, water supply, heating, and sewerage systems are being updated, and interior finishing is being carried out. The overall readiness of the facility is 70%. After completion of all work, the maternity hospital will be equipped with new medical equipment and brought into line with modern standards.⸻Arkalyk is a city with growth potentialThe visit of the Prime Minister confirmed the attention of the Government to the development of the Turgay region. Construction of Two New Residential Buildings Nearing Completion in Kokshetau 21.05.2025
In the regional center of Kokshetau, construction of two new 45-apartment residential buildings is nearing completion. The buildings are located at the intersection of Vernadsky and Kapcevich streets and stand out with their unique architectural style and modern, comfortable layouts.At present, construction work has been completed, and landscaping efforts are underway. "No to Violence!": A Flash Mob and Concert in Honor of Family Day Held in Kostanay 21.05.2025
A bright flash mob and a festive concert took place in Kostanay, dedicated to the International Family Day and the Year of Crime Prevention, declared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.The large-scale event was held under the motto: "Police on guard of law and order" and became part of the challenge "Kazakhstan without domestic violence".As Madina Valieva, Head of the Department for Combating Domestic Violence of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Kostanay Region, emphasized, the goal of the event is to form zero tolerance for domestic violence in society, strengthen family values and expand interdepartmental cooperation.About 300 college students gathered in the square near the regional akimat building, lining up in a living inscription "NO VIOLENCE!" Kazakhstan Strengthens Cooperation with the United Nations on Child Rights Protection 20.05.2025

On May 15, 2025, as part of Family Day, the regional akim’s office held a training seminar on the topic: “Preventive work to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment against women in government agencies” in order to implement the Model Work Plan for Ethics Commissioners for 2025 and organize legal training for civil servants.The moderator was M. Madenov, deputy head of the regional akim’s office.Speakers: Nina Kosyuk, psychologist, expert on sexual and reproductive health, protection of the rights of victims of domestic violence, combating human trafficking, representative of the Kazakhstan Association of Sexual and Reproductive Health, head of the Damytu Public Foundation, Maksat Shakirbayev, human rights commissioner for Kostanay region, Kairat Syundikov, ethics commissioner of the akim’s office of Kostanay region.The meetings raised acute and important issues: sexualized psychological violence, the practice of implementing policies against discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace by organizations, the work of the 111 Hotline, and plans to open a Crisis Center for Women in Kostanay.The seminars were attended by employees of the Akim's office of the Kostanay region, regional departments, and the audit commission. The population of the Abai region as of April 1, 2025 amounted to 601.4 thousand people, including urban – 374.4 thousand (62.3%), rural – 227.0 thousand (37.7%) people. Compared to the beginning of 2025, the population decreased by 1.4 thousand people or 0.2%.Natural population movementIn general, in the Abai region in January-March 2025, the natural population growth amounted to 684 people compared to January-March 2024 (972 people) decreased by 29.6%. The total natural growth rate per 1000 population was 4.62 people.According to the information contained in the civil status records submitted by the RAGS bodies, the number of births in January-March 2025 amounted to 1926 people, which is 17.0% less than in the corresponding period of 2024 (2320 people). The total fertility rate per 1000 people was 13.02 births.In the period under review, the number of deaths amounted to 1242 people, which is 7.9% less than in January- March 2024 (1348 people). The overall mortality rate was 8.40 deaths per 1000 people.In January- March 2025, 15 deceased infants under the age of 1 year were registered in the region and compared to the corresponding period of 2024 (21 deceased infants) decreased by 28,6%. The infant mortality rate was 7.79 cases per 1000 births.Population migrationAs a result of processing the information provided by the migration service authorities, in 1-quarter 2025, the number of arrivals in the region amounted to - 3199 people, the number of departures from the region – 5292 people. As a result of external and internal migrations, there was a decrease of -2093 people.The main external migration exchange takes place with the CIS countries. The share of arrivals from the CIS countries was 14 people or 87,5%, 28 people or 84,8 % of the total number of migrants left.
