Preparation for spring floods: work has been intensified in two more districts of the West Kazakhstan Region

On February 5-6, 2025, the Governor of the West Kazakhstan region, Nariman Toregaliyev, visited the Karatobe and Syrym districts and inspected the work being carried out to combat flooding.
9 settlements of the Karatobe district (the villages of Karatobe, Shöptiköl, Ushagash, Korzhyn, Egindykol, Shalgyn, Saule, Sulykol, Ushana), as well as 9 settlements of the neighboring Syrym district (Zhympity, Olenty, Buldyrty, Kosoba, Zhyrakudyk, Toganas, Ankaty, Zhetikol, Kyzylagash) are included in the list of settlements in the region at risk of flooding.
The regional akim inspected the condition of dams in dangerous settlements and made sure of the readiness of equipment and evacuation points.
Nariman Toregaliyev visited the villages of Ushana, Sulykol, Ushagash and the district center of Karatobe district and inspected the progress of flood preparedness. Nariman Toregaliyev noted the need to strengthen protective dams in the villages and carry out high-quality work on securing river channels.
In total, 9.8 km of protective dams (Korzhyn, Karatobe, Ushagash, Sulykol, Ushagash) have been installed in the Karatobe district. There are more than 30 vehicles in the district.
19 evacuation points for 1,430 people have been organized in the Karatobe district.
The head of the region visited the protective dams built near the village of Kosoba and in the village of Zhympity in the Syrym district, and also saw the building of the newly built Emergency Department.
In the Syrym district, 15 km of protective dams have been built to protect settlements at risk of flooding. 83 vehicles are provided to eliminate the consequences of flooding. There are 9 evacuation points in the district with a capacity of 430 people.
“We must thoroughly prepare for flood prevention. All work must be carried out on time and with high quality. The main thing is to ensure the safety of residents. "It is necessary to fully prepare the necessary tools and equipment, and organize a 24-hour duty in case of changes in water levels and when the weather starts to warm up," the regional akim said.
The regional akim instructed the deputy responsible for the industry B. Narymbetov, district akims and responsible institutions to strengthen flood prevention measures and keep the situation under strict control.
