This year marks the 120th anniversary of the signing of the Karkaraly Petition. On this occasion, the collection "Alash's Karkaralysy" was presented. It included research works by Kazakh scientists. The book was published with the support of the Karaganda regional akimat.

– This was a big event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the Karkaraly Petition. It contains many historical facts. This book is a monument to an important historical event at the beginning of the last century. I myself study the history of the region, I have published six books. I hope that the in-depth study of Karkaraly will continue, - noted veteran local historian Sayat Ospanov.

Let's recall historical data: on July 25, 1905, at the Koyandy fair in Karkaraly, a petition against the colonization of the tsarist government was adopted and sent to Nicholas II. It was signed by about 15 thousand people. Among the signatories and possible drafters of the petition were Akhmet Baitursynov, Alikhan Bokeikhanov, Mirzhakyp Dulatov, Zhakyp Akpayev and others. This document covered all the problems and became the programmatic article of the national movement.

– The book contains many facts not only about the history of Karkaraly, but also about the history of the people, including the history of independence. It is clearly stated that it was in this Karkaraly that the origins of independence, where the leaders of the "Alash" movement stood, were located. It is important for the history of the region that the struggle of Kazakh intellectuals for the freedom of the people began in Karkaraly, says Satbek Slambekov, an employee of the Karkaraly Museum of History and Local Lore.

The presentation of the collection included reports by scientists, local historians, history teachers and high school students about the Karkaraly petition and the "Alash" movement.
