I have not expressed my views on the value-added tax before. Because, according to my official rank, every word and opinion of mine is perceived as a strict order. Nevertheless, I would like to express my opinion on this issue. In any case, the value-added tax rate should be set in a differentiated manner.
It is better for the government to make the final decision based on accurate calculations, listening to the opinions of qualified experts, I repeat, qualified experts and entrepreneurs, and, of course, deputies.
One thing is clear, the rate currently proposed by the government is too high. You mentioned a specific figure. It was hotly discussed by society. In some cases, even unnecessary words were said. However, this was a proposal that was put forward for public discussion in advance. I repeat, the government's work in this direction should continue, taking into account the opinions of business, society, entrepreneurs, experts, that is, all parties. A specific decision should be made this year. I have said before: The government should discuss this issue in detail with deputies and experts. The opinions expressed today will also be taken into account. The state needs the most optimal solution. That is, on the one hand, we need to find an effective way that will not hinder business, but create favorable conditions, and on the other hand, strengthen tax discipline and increase budget revenues, - said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
