In the Zhetisay district, farmers are planting cabbage in early February. One of those who started planting seedlings in his fields is Ruslan Kudaykulov.
The farm located in the Sh. Dildabekov rural district of the Zhetisay district, which has 30 hectares of arable land in common ownership, has started planting 525 thousand seedlings of early-ripening cabbage varieties "Zarisma" and "Valikor" on 15 hectares this year. The enlarged farm, which received a good harvest from these two varieties last year, plans to plant bell peppers and watermelons on the remaining 15 hectares. The citizen, who has been using drip irrigation for 10 years to save water, is confident that this year's harvest will be good too.
- We are engaged in farming with our family, as you know. This is our main livelihood. There are currently 20 people working here, and we pay the workers 5,000 tenge per day. God willing, in March we plan to plant watermelons and bell peppers in the open ground in the middle and get a good harvest. We cover the planted seedlings with a tarpaulin to protect them from precipitation. The most important thing is to pay great attention to maintenance, - says the chairman of the farm Ruslan Kudaykulov.
The villagers, who participate in planting cabbage from early spring, then planting and harvesting melons and watermelons, say that they will not miss the autumn cotton harvest either. Shirinkul Mashrapova, who said that she works in the fields for 11 months of the year and is free only for 1 month in winter, argues that if 4-5 people from one family work tirelessly, they can earn a decent income.
It should be noted that last year, out of the 79.3 thousand hectares of agricultural crops in the district, 40.8 thousand hectares were sown with cotton, more than 19.7 thousand hectares with orchards, 6.6 thousand hectares with fodder crops, and 3.4 thousand hectares with vegetables. 110 thousand tons of cotton, 549 thousand tons of orchards, 88.8 thousand tons of vegetables, 46.1 thousand tons of grain and legumes, and 67.7 thousand tons of fodder crops were harvested from these crops.
Last year, 38,907 tons of cabbage planted by farmers in the district on 1,296.9 hectares of land were harvested and exported to other regions of the country and Russia. This year, it is planned to sow early cabbage on 1,356 hectares of land.
