Today, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek held a meeting with representatives of AstraZeneca in Kazakhstan Maria Shipuleva, Arsen Nasyrkhanov and Zhalgas Daniyarov.
During the meeting, future areas of cooperation between the ministry and AstraZeneca were discussed, the purpose of which is to develop the innovative system of higher education and science in Kazakhstan.
Minister Sayasat Nurbek noted that the ministry is actively and systematically working on reforming the system of higher education and science, the purpose of which is to strengthen the country's scientific potential.
"One of the main directions of the reforms is the creation of a scientific and research academic hub in Central Asia, which will become a center for attracting young scientists and contribute to the development of the country's human resources. Our task is to establish stable contacts between science and industry, which will allow training highly qualified scientific personnel directly in Kazakhstan. The Ministry is actively working with leading world institutions, introducing international standards into the country's education and scientific system, as well as developing innovative solutions for artificial intelligence and industry," - said Sayasat Nurbek.
In turn, AstraZeneca's Director in Kazakhstan, Maria Shipuleva, spoke about the company's long-term contribution to the development of healthcare and science in the country.
"AstraZeneca is an international biopharmaceutical company with more than 100 years of history. We invest significant resources in innovation, developing new medicines for the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune, respiratory and rare diseases. "We are actively investing in supporting the initiatives of the Government of Kazakhstan in the field of innovation and ensuring access to advanced medicine, localization, production and human resources development, as well as introducing advanced diagnostics and treatment methods," Maria Shipuleva noted.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of academic scientific hubs, the implementation of projects in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as opportunities for cooperation with universities in Kazakhstan and branches of foreign universities, including Nazarbayev University and Cardiff University. At the end of the meeting, the participants noted that cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and AstraZeneca opens up new opportunities for the development of the country's healthcare system and scientific potential.
