Young foreign scientist conducts research in the field of "green" chemistry at Satpayev University
Faisal Usmanbhai Kholia, a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Chemical Processes and Industrial Ecology of the O.A. Baikonurov Institute of Mining and Metallurgy of Satpayev University, is successfully continuing his research in the field of "green" chemistry, the main focus of which is waste reduction and environmental protection, which, accordingly, corresponds to the goals of sustainable development.
Faisal Usmanbhai Kholia is a promising young scientist from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India. He received his doctorate in materials science in polymer chemistry from CHARUSAT University. His scientific direction is aimed at developing new materials for biomedicine and ecology by modifying polysaccharides (agarose and chitosan).
Faisal is currently conducting research at Satpayev University to optimize the process of obtaining pectin and nanocellulose from sugar beet residue. Pectin and nanocellulose have great potential for application in the fields of food, pharmaceuticals, and modern medicine.
“I was particularly interested in Satpayev University’s commitment to cutting-edge research based on the promotion of innovative areas that meet the goals of sustainable development. I am also inspired by the university’s interdisciplinary approach, which is in line with my goal of working in the field of science and making a significant contribution to improving the lives of humanity,” said Faisal Kholia.
Faisal’s research is supervised by Associate Professor Sana Kanatbekovna Kabdrakhmanova. He highly appreciates Faisal's ability to creatively solve complex scientific problems.
The scientist's works have been published in 10 scientific articles in prestigious publications such as Carbohydrate Polymers and Polymer International, two book chapters in Elsevier and Nova Publishers, as well as patents.
The goal of Satpayev University is to support scientific discoveries and implement interdisciplinary research for the benefit of society.
