For the first time in Almaty, Francis Poulenc's monoopera "The Voice of Man" will be staged in Kazakh. The Regional Communications Service reported on the progress of preparations for this cultural event. The premiere will take place on February 20 at 7:00 p.m. on the stage of the Zhambyl Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic.

The work, based on the play of the same name by Jean Cocteau, occupies a special place among the world musical classics of the 20th century. Previously, the monoopera was staged in English, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Catalan, Czech, Finnish, Galician, Japanese, Korean, Slovak, Ukrainian, as well as sign language. The staging of the Kazakh version is evidence of the integration of domestic culture into the international artistic space.

A new stage of this work in the Kazakh cultural space began in 2023, when Jean Cocteau's play "The Voice" was staged on the stage of the Kazakh National Drama Theater named after M. Auezov. It was translated by People's Artist of Kazakhstan Tungyshbay Zhamankulov, and the production was directed by Barzu Abdurazakov. The performance was highly appreciated by the audience and the professional community. The new project continues this creative direction in the genre of monoopera.

According to the director of the Philharmonic, Nurgisa Daueshov, the project has not only artistic, but also symbolic significance.

"The performance of "Adam Dausy" in the Kazakh language is an important step in the development of national musical art. It paves the way for world masterpieces to be sung in our native language, preserving their artistic depth and bringing them closer to the audience," he said.

The only part in the monoopera will be performed by Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Daria Zhusup. The vocal part was prepared by the famous teacher and singer Galina Karamoldayeva. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after T. Abdirashev under the direction of artistic director and chief conductor Kanat Omarov. The idea of performing the work with the accompaniment of a symphony orchestra has been developed for several years and was implemented within the framework of this project.

According to the organizers, the premiere is intended for a wide audience and aims to increase interest in classical musical heritage in the national cultural space.
