Speaker of the Mazhilis on behalf of the president took part in the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit 14.10.2025
September 15, Doha. On behalf of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Chairman of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov took part in the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in the capital of Qatar, Doha. The Speaker of the Chamber spoke at the plenary session, outlining our country's position on the issues of resolving international conflicts. On the sidelines of the summit, Yerlan Koshanov met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Emir of Qatar highly praised Kazakhstan's support and expressed gratitude for the country's position regarding the military actions taken by the Israeli authorities.– I know very well that Kazakhstan was the first to condemn this act and support Qatar. Thank you for that. I am proud of our special fraternal, friendly relations with the President of Kazakhstan. And it is very important for us that the Kazakh delegation is present at such a high level at today's summit, – said Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. In his speech at the session, the Chairman of the Mazhilis noted that the Middle East region is currently facing serious geopolitical challenges and the holding of the extraordinary summit is due to a sharp escalation of the international situation.– Kazakhstan strongly condemns Israel's military actions on the territory of the State of Qatar. Our President, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, was the first to express this position and voiced strong support for Qatar. Whatever the goals of the attack, such actions are completely unacceptable. This violates the sovereign rights of the State of Qatar and contradicts the principles of international law. Such an attack harms not only the security of a single country, but also the peace and sovereignty of all states that are guided by the foundations of the international order, – said Yerlan Koshanov. The Speaker of the Mazhilis noted that with its peacekeeping policy, Qatar makes a huge contribution to ensuring global stability and security. In his speech, he also voiced Kazakhstan's position on the settlement of international conflicts.– Any crisis must be resolved through peaceful dialogue based on the Charter of the United Nations and the norms of international law. The President of Kazakhstan calls for ensuring the inviolability of these principles and for being fully guided by them in resolving conflicts. Practice shows that the use of military force always causes only a new wave of violence and leads to the death of innocent people, – emphasized Yerlan Koshanov. In this regard, the Chairman of the Mazhilis also touched upon the tragic events taking place in Gaza. He noted that from the very beginning of the conflict, the President of Kazakhstan has constantly been calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip and for assistance to its residents.Kazakhstan, for its part, is already providing financial and other assistance to Gaza. In January of this year, this work was carried out jointly with the Islamic Organization for Food Security, headquartered in Astana. Yerlan Koshanov called on Islamic countries to more actively use the potential of this organization to expand humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. Also on the sidelines of the summit, the Speaker of the Mazhilis met with the Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who highly praised the development of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Qatar.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mfa-doha/press/news/details/1073129?lang=kk
