Kazakh Theatre “The Arts Stage” to Premiere “The Black Cloak” in London 13.09.2025
On 13 November 2025 at 7:00 PM, the private Kazakh theatre company The Arts Stage will present the UK premiere of The Black Cloak at the Shaw Bernardo Theatre. This emotionally charged allegorical play explores timeless themes of love, loyalty, betrayal, and moral decay – inviting audiences to reflect deeply on the state of the modern world. The Black Cloak is considered a modern classic of parabolic drama. Through a cast of animal characters that speak and behave like humans, the play holds up a mirror to society, exposing corruption, blind loyalty, and the personal cost of integrity. The only human character in the story – a shepherd – views the loyal dog Tuzar not as a living being, but as a tool. This metaphor drives a deeply moving narrative that challenges the audience to question their own values and relationships. The production is directed by Askhat Mayemirov, a renowned Kazakh theatre director, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan, recipient of the prestigious Qurmet Order, and professor at the Kazakh National University of Arts. Known for his psychologically complex and visually innovative work, Dr.Mayemirov brings a daring, raw energy to the London premiere. His creative process included an intensive month-long psychological training programme with the cast to help them embody characters that exist between animal instinct and human consciousness. The play stars a remarkable ensemble of Kazakh actors, including Tuzar, the loyal dog (Maksat Sabitov), Kokzhal, the cunning leader of the wolf pack (Yedil Ramazanov), A young and pragmatic she-wolf (Akkenzhe Alimzhan), Kosurey, the self-important hare (Lidiya Kadenova), Sylan, the reckless fox (Shynargul Kabysheva), Kukar, the wise old raven (Yerlan Karibayev), and others. The theatre’s founders bring a wealth of experience and passion to this production. Producer Shynargul Kabysheva, an award-winning actress in both theatre and film, holds a master’s degree in Theatre Direction and has received numerous national and international honours. Theatre director Akkenzhe Alimzhan, a distinguished actress and academic with degrees from the USA and Kazakhstan, is also a laureate of several arts festivals. The Black Cloak is more than a play – it is a cultural bridge. With support from Red Square Agency, The Arts Stage aims to introduce UK audiences to the vibrancy and depth of Kazakhstan’s contemporary theatre scene. As the team behind the production states: “We’ve been preparing for this event for over a year – gathering Kazakhstan’s finest talent, choosing a script that speaks to the heart, and collaborating with one of our country’s most visionary directors. We believe British audiences will not only relate to this story but feel its urgency. This is the beginning of a dialogue, a lasting cultural exchange between Kazakhstan and the UK.”Join us for a night of unforgettable theatre – where ancient allegory meets modern relevance, and the animal world reveals the very soul of humanity.Tickets for the premiere are available: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-black-cloak-double-bill-tickets-1587389317179Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mfa-london/press/news/details/1067234?lang=kk

SHYMKENT AGRICULTURALISTS HAVE COMPLETED THE GRAIN HARVESTING 12.09.2025
In 2025, more than 10.9 thousand hectares were allocated for grain crops in Shymkent, of which 10.3 thousand hectares were occupied by wheat and 0.6 thousand hectares by barley. The total volume of harvested agricultural products reached 66 thousand tons - this is a significant contribution to the food security of the region. Farmers pin their hopes on the achievements of local scientists for improved results. A startup project for the production of fertilizers from local raw materials, recognized as one of the best among the works of young researchers, promises to significantly improve the situation. Their discovery could be a turning point for the region, where low-fertility soils traditionally limit crop yields. As noted by the head of the Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine of Shymkent, Sagdat Makhanov, the decrease in grain yields is also planned to be compensated for by high-income crops, such as safflower, which is gaining increasing popularity among local farmers. By the way, after the grain harvest was completed, Shymkent farmers almost immediately switched their attention to harvesting safflower. In 2025, oilseed crops in the region were sown on an area of 3 thousand hectares, and the current safflower harvest promises to be one of the highest in recent years. According to farmer Kamysbay Toishibekov, the price per kilogram of safflower seeds this year has reached 130 tenge, which is higher than last year's figures. This allows farms not only to cover costs, but also to invest in upgrading equipment, including purchasing modern combines and tractors. The safflower harvest is expected to be several thousand tons, thereby strengthening Shymkent's position in the oilseed industry of Kazakhstan. The harvest is carried out in an intensive mode: equipment works from early morning until late evening, and farmers compete in speed and quality. This approach not only increases efficiency, but also creates an atmosphere of friendly competition that stimulates progress in the industry. The agricultural sector of Shymkent is actively supported by the state. In 2025, 919 tons of diesel fuel were allocated for spring field and autumn harvesting work at a preferential price, which is significantly lower than the market price. Of the total volume, 616 tons were intended for spring work, and 303 tons for harvesting. This measure reduces the financial burden on farmers and allows them to focus on increasing productivity. Key support will also be provided by the signing by the Head of State of the law on reducing the tax on agricultural land, which will come into force in January 2026. The tax rate for farmers in Shymkent will decrease from 91 thousand tenge to about 1 thousand tenge per hectare. This measure is aimed at reducing the financial burden and stimulating investment in agriculture, which is especially important for farmers working in unstable weather conditions. After the harvesting campaign is over, Shymkent farmers will begin preparing for the next season. An important aspect is the procurement of feed for livestock: 307 thousand tons of hay and feed have been collected to date, which is 93% of the plan. This ensures stability in the livestock sector, where the livestock population continues to grow. Shymkent farmers continue to play a key role in ensuring food security for the region and the country. Despite the drought, farms demonstrate resilience by introducing new technologies and diversifying crops. The successful completion of the grain harvest, a record safflower harvest, government support and innovative developments create a solid foundation for further development.

WE MUST FULLY EXPLOIT THE POTENTIAL OF THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR 12.09.2025
In this year's Address, the Head of State made a number of positive proposals for digitization, industrial development, improving the living conditions of citizens, and the development of the agricultural sector. We now need to pay attention to the deep processing of manufactured products, so that the product does not remain in the form of raw materials. The development of science in agriculture is a very relevant issue. If agricultural science does not develop, the agricultural sector will not move forward. The government is tasked with creating a single digital platform for water resources. The platform will collect data on surface and groundwater based on artificial intelligence. It will also contain information on the condition of canals, reservoirs, and dams. This is a very necessary project. We are still not able to fully utilize the potential of the agricultural sector. The development of the sector is of great importance. After all, the soul and core of the Kazakh people are in the village. If we could comprehensively solve the above problems, we would further develop the agricultural sector. Nowadays, it is very important to adapt to the market and be competitive. In general, we need to identify specific areas where investment is needed. It is becoming clear that discipline is also needed in attracting investment. All of these are timely issues.
