Kazakhstan Outlines Prospects for Cross-Regional Connectivity between Central Asia and European Union 21.10.2025
Luxembourg, October 20, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Issetov took part in a ministerial meeting dedicated to advancing the connectivity agenda between the countries of Central Asia, the Eastern Partnership, Türkiye, and the European Union.The event brought together foreign ministers from EU member states, as well as from Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Türkiye.Participants discussed practical steps aimed at strengthening cross-regional connectivity in the areas of transport, digital transformation, energy, and trade.They paid particular attention to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (“Middle Corridor”), the modernization of infrastructure networks, the provision of affordable clean energy, and the advancement of digital transformation.In his remarks, Deputy Minister Issetov noted that transport is among the 29 priority areas defined in the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union and its member states. He emphasized that this December marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of this landmark Agreement, which has served as a solid foundation for the development of Kazakhstan – EU relations.He further underlined that Kazakhstan, as the region’s largest economy and a key transit hub, plays a leading role in promoting the connectivity agenda. Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Presents Credentials to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission 21.10.2025
Addis Ababa, October 20, 2025 – The Ambassador  of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Zhalgas Adilbayev, presented his credentials to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.The ceremony took place at the African Union Headquarters in a spirit of mutual respect and goodwill. Kazakhstan and European Union Committed to Further Expanding Strategic Partnership 21.10.2025
Luxembourg, October 20, 2025 – On the margins of the ministerial meeting dedicated to advancing the agenda of infrastructure connectivity between the countries of Central Asia, the Eastern Partnership, Türkiye, and the European Union, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arman Issetov held meetings with Vice-President of the European Commission – EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela, and EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais.During the conversations, the parties expressed their satisfaction with the multifaceted and dynamically developing cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union, which is built on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests.This progress has been facilitated by the practical implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union and its member states.This December marks the 10th anniversary of the EPCA, which has brought Kazakhstan – EU relations to a qualitatively new level. It was underlined that among the 29 areas of cooperation outlined in the agreement, Astana and Brussels are jointly implementing shared priorities in the fields of transport and logistics, critical raw materials, green energy, digital transformation, agriculture, education, and science.Deputy Minister Issetov noted that strengthening bilateral cooperation contributes to the development of cross-regional interaction between the Central Asian countries and the European Union. As part of the implementation of the Work Plan for celebrating the 180th anniversary of the great poet and thinker Abai Kunanbaiuly cultural events, literature evenings, and seminars were organised by the Ministry's departments, structural divisions, subordinate organizations, and territorial justice bodies, which was approved by the Head of the Administrative Office of the Ministry. Famous Afghan hand-woven carpets and saffron tea are now available in Shymkent! 21.10.2025
On October 26, 2025, at 3:30 PM, a unique exhibition of Afghan goods will open at the Shymkent Exhibition Center. This is the third consecutive year that this exhibition of authentic Afghan crafts has been held in Kazakhstan. This year, it will be held in Shymkent for the first time.The highlight of the exhibition will be the famous hand-woven Afghan carpets, which are in high demand in many countries around the world. Kazakhstan and Luxembourg Confirm Commitment to Deepening Political and Economic Cooperation 20.10.2025
Luxembourg, October 20, 2025 – During a working visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arman Issetov held talks with Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Olinger.The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to the development of political dialogue, as well as to the expansion of cooperation in economic and cultural spheres.The diplomats paid particular attention to implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting between President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23, 2025. The Kazakh diplomat noted that this meeting had given new momentum to bilateral relations and opened up opportunities for further development of cooperation.Deputy Minister Issetov emphasized that Kazakhstan regards Luxembourg as an important partner within the European Union, taking into account that this year Kazakhstan and the EU mark the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. The potential for cooperation between the two countries covers such areas as green technologies, digitalization, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.For his part, Secretary-General Olinger highly appreciated Kazakhstan’s efforts in strengthening regional stability and emphasized that Luxembourg views our country as a reliable partner in Central Asia. He expressed his readiness to continue cooperation within the framework of the EU and international organizations, including the UN, as well as to support joint initiatives aimed at expanding economic and humanitarian ties.Following the talks, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further developing political dialogue, enhancing trade and investment cooperation, and strengthening contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries.For reference: The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg amounted to 13.6 million US dollars in January-August 2025, mainly due to imports from Luxembourg. In 2024, trade turnover totaled 19.54 million dollars (exports – 36.5 thousand, imports – 19.5 million). The gross inflow of direct investment from Luxembourg into Kazakhstan in 2024 amounted to 520.5 million dollars, compared to 424.5 million dollars in 2023. From 2005 to the second quarter of 2025, the total volume of investments amounted to 3.5 billion US dollars. EIB Confirms its Interest in Expanding Cooperation with Kazakhstan 20.10.2025
Luxembourg, October 20, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Issetov held a meeting with Director-General of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Andrew McDowell.During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Investment Bank, including the implementation of joint infrastructure, energy, and digital projects, as well as the Kazakhstan – EU Strategic Partnership on Critical Raw Materials.In particular, the parties reviewed joint initiatives aimed at developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (the “Middle Corridor”), including the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding worth 1.47 billion euro, concluded between the EIB and the governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the Development Bank of Kazakhstan.They paid special attention to cooperation in the fields of clean energy and critical raw materials. Deputy Minister Issetov welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and the EIB on the Kambarata-1 Hydropower Plant project, which took place on the margins of the Global Gateway Forum in Brussels on 9-10 October, 2025.Progress in the EIB’s negotiations with the Kazakh companies “Sarytogan Graphite” and “ZhezkazganRedMet” was also noted, within the framework of the joint Kazakhstan – EU Roadmap on Critical Raw Materials for 2025-2026.Moreover, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in the areas of digitalization and innovation. Astana, October 15, 2025 – First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev participated in the Astana Think Tank Forum 2025 (ATTF), held on the theme: "From Polarization to Partnership: Restoring Trust in the International System."Speaking at the first session, "Multilateralism at a Crossroads: Reforming Global Governance in a Divided World," Y.Ashikbayev emphasized the need to build a "constructive consensus" and strengthen multilateralism in the face of increasing international polarization, noting the growing role of "middle powers" in maintaining stability, peace, and sustainable development.The importance of reforming the UN Security Council, strengthening regional cooperation formats, and promoting a responsible approach to regulating artificial intelligence was noted. Particular attention was paid to Kazakhstan's efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 and strengthening transcontinental connectivity in Central Asia. In this context, Y.Ashikbayev emphasized that Kazakhstan consistently promotes a vision for the region's further development based on the strengtheningof mutually beneficial ties within Eurasia and the creation of a synergy of interests between Central Asian countries and their external partners.The ATTF is a reputable expert platform for discussing pressing issues on the international agenda.
