Astana, November 24, 2025 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev received the European Union’s Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais.During the meeting, Minister Kosherbayev underlined that Kazakhstan and the European Union have been consistently enhancing their political dialogue, including through the implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, signed ten years ago and serving as a solid foundation for long-term cooperation.The parties exchanged views on key areas of cooperation, noting the importance of promoting projects on green transformation and transport connectivity. From faulty cars to housing problems: a review of high-profile consumer cases 24.11.2025
Recently, numerous high-profile cases have emerged in the area of consumer protection, generating significant interest. We will highlight the most notable stories of citizens experiencing violations of their rights and achieving justice. These events demonstrate the importance of seeking help promptly and how situations can change when specialists intervene.The largest number of complaints related to car purchases. In Almaty, several buyers encountered defective new cars. One resident discovered a serious engine problem and, after receiving legal support, was able to obtain a full refund of 6.99 million tenge. Another buyer discovered numerous defects in her car, including transmission issues, a faulty rearview camera, and even an inability to open the gas cap. After negotiations, she received a full refund of 14.9 million tenge. Another car owner also received support after discovering a faulty transmission and was able to obtain a refund of 13.9 million tenge.In Shymkent, the story of an electric car owner who sought help after realizing the car's stated range was inaccurate attracted attention. It was suspected that the car had used used batteries. After consulting with specialists, the seller agreed to refund him 21 million tenge. In the Ulytau region, another buyer discovered faults in the engine and air conditioning system of a newly purchased car. After consultations, the car was completely replaced with a new one worth 9.09 million tenge. This became one of the most positive examples of a successful dispute resolution.Equally significant situations arose in the real estate market. In Almaty, a woman was unable to collect her apartment, even though the contractual deadline had passed. The developer delayed handing over the keys, citing various reasons. After consulting, she was refunded her downpayment of 7.2 million tenge. In Shymkent, another buyer decided to cancel the apartment she had purchased for personal reasons but was met with a categorical refusal from the seller. After the Department's intervention, the situation was resolved, and the consumer received 37 million tenge. Complaints against travel agencies in the Aktobe region attracted particular attention. Several people found themselves in situations where their paid tours were not provided. After outreach and consultations, seven individuals received refunds totaling 1.2 million tenge.A particularly significant situation occurred in the West Kazakhstan region, where the Department filed a lawsuit to protect the rights of eighteen consumers. The individuals ordered cabinet furniture but never received it. Unified Digital Platform: Key Changes for Authors and Users 22.11.2025
On November 21, the Subcommittee on Culture and Creative Industries of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” presented the main provisions of the newly adopted amendments on intellectual property. The meeting was attended by members of the Senate and Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Ministry of Justice and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs.The central innovation is the Unified Digital Platform for Collective Rights Management. Berlin, November 19-20, 2025 – The Kazakh delegation, led by Deputy Director of the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Daniyar Iskakov, held consultations at the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. The German side was represented by Deputy Head of Legal Department and Director for Legal and Consular Issues, Legal Migration and Return Issues of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Christian Klein.The consultations focused on a comprehensive review of the current state and future prospects of consular cooperation, the further expansion of the bilateral treaty and legal framework, as well as next steps towards facilitating the visa regime between Kazakhstan and the European Union.The Federal Ministry of the Interior of Germany hosted the inaugural meeting of the Working Group on the Implementation of the Bilateral Intergovernmental Readmission Agreement. The meeting took place within the framework of the Joint Declaration on Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federal Republic of Germany, endorsed on 16 September 2024 by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The Working Group includes representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan and the Federal Ministry of the Interior of Germany.During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on practical modalities for implementing the Readmission Agreement, discussed matters related to bilateral cooperation in the fields of security and migration, and examined opportunities for introducing digital solutions to enhance the efficiency of identification and transfer procedures for persons subject to readmission, as well as to improve the overall management of migration processes.At the conclusion of the visit, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing cooperation across the full spectrum of consular and migration-related issues, highlighted the importance of maintaining a constructive and dynamic expert-level dialogue, and underscored the steady deepening of the friendly partnership between Kazakhstan and Germany. Large-scale renovation of the road infrastructure continues in all districts of the region. 22.11.2025
Comprehensive work continues in the region to upgrade the road network. Repairs are carried out not only in cities, but also in rural areas. This approach is designed to reduce the gap in living standards between rural and urban residents and ensure equal access to high-quality infrastructure.Significant increase in fundingOver the past three years, the amount of funds allocated for road repairs has increased significantly.In 2022, 8.5 billion tenge was allocated for these purposes.In 2023-2024, financing was increased to 20 billion tenge annually.This year, 29 billion tenge has been allocated for the repair of more than 400 streets in 103 settlements, which is 3.6 times more than in 2022.In terms of financing of the road industry, the region is among the leaders of the country, ahead of other regions in some cases up to 9 times.Work in the regional centerSpecial attention is paid to the regional center. In 2024, 8.2 billion tenge was allocated for the repair of streets and courtyards in Kostanay, which is 1.7 times higher than last year and 3.6 times higher than in 2022.Repairs were carried out on 85 streets with a total length of 51 kilometers.Implementation of major infrastructure projectsWork is also underway in the region on the republican road network. On behalf of the Head of State, the implementation of the Center–West project has begun — a new route from Astana through Arkalyk, Torgai and Irgiz with access to the Trans-Caspian International Corridor.The new route will shorten the journey by 560 kilometers and provide transport connectivity to 13 settlements with a population of about 70 thousand people.The repair of the road from Arkalyk to the border with Ulytau region is being completed. At the same time, work is underway to restore the airport in Arkalyk.Results and impact on the economyIn general, 103 billion tenge has been allocated to improve the condition of roads this year, which is 40% more than in 2024 (73.8 billion tenge). A total of 1,300 kilometers of public roads have been repaired.The development of road transport infrastructure is already showing a positive effect. The forum brought together forty scientists from various countries around the world, as well as more than one hundred Kazakhstani researchers and experts. During a trade and economic mission from Kazakhstan in Minsk, a $5 million contract was signed between the National Association of Oilseed Processors and the Belarusian company "Dary Polye Plus." The document provides for the purchase of products from Kazakh producers and was the main outcome of business negotiations between the two countries.In addition to this agreement, the Kazakh and Belarusian parties signed a number of other documents aimed at expanding trade and economic cooperation. A memorandum of cooperation between QazTrade and the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange opened opportunities for the exchange of experience, the participation of Kazakh companies in exchange trading, the development of electronic platforms, and the holding of joint events. The Belarusian exchange is the largest spot market in the region, annually processing over 500,000 transactions worth over $4 billion.Another document is a memorandum between QazTrade and the National Marketing Center of Belarus. It provides for the exchange of analytics, support for product promotion, joint partner searches, and the organization of business missions and educational programs. These agreements are intended to facilitate the entry of Kazakh manufacturers into the Belarusian market and make cooperation between companies more systematic.QazTrade CEO Aitmuhammed Aldazharov noted that the mission's results create new opportunities for trade development:"Kazakhstan and Belarus have significant potential for cooperation.
