Kazakh Delegation Visits Headquarters of Swedish Company Väderstad 29.03.2026
Väderstad, 23 March 2026 – A Kazakh delegation comprising Vice Minister of Industry and Construction Olzhas Saparbekov, Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov, and President of AgromashHolding KZ JSC Dinara Shukizhanova visited the headquarters of Swedish company Väderstad, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-tech agricultural machinery. The delegation also included representatives of Eurasia Group Kazakhstan LLP, the official distributor of Väderstad in Kazakhstan.Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Sweden Olzhas Suleimenov noted that the visit represented a logical continuation of previously reached agreements on expanding cooperation with the company, as well as a practical step toward advancing the initiative to localize the production of Väderstad machinery in Kazakhstan.During a meeting with President and CEO of Väderstad Henrik Gilstring, as well as co-owner and Board Member Christina Stark, the parties held substantive discussions on prospects for deepening industrial cooperation.Vice Ministers O. On the participation of the Kazakh delegation in the 54th session of UNCITRAL Working Group III 29.03.2026
Vienna, 24 March 2026 – The delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the 54th session of UN Сomission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group III: Investor-State Dispute Settlement Reform.The Working Group continues its consideration of the possible establishment of a standing mechanism for the resolution of international investment disputes, including various models of an Appellate Tribunal and the procedure for determining its jurisdiction.During the session, the delegation of Kazakhstan, participating as an observer State, underscored the importance of ensuring legal certainty and taking into account the specific features of national procedures when considering possible mechanisms for establishing the jurisdiction of the tribunal. National Guard troops take part in flood prevention efforts in Arkalyk 29.03.2026
In the city of Arkalyk, Kostanay region, servicemen of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with rescuers and civil protection specialists, are involved in preventive flood control measures. The work is organized to prevent possible flooding during the seasonal warming and snowmelt period.About 70 servicemen of military unit 6697, stationed in Kostanay, have been deployed to Arkalyk to assist local executive bodies and rescue units. From the first days, the guardsmen have been actively engaged in carrying out assigned tasks.At present, personnel are implementing a set of preventive measures. Servicemen are monitoring areas potentially prone to the accumulation of meltwater, and round-the-clock duty has been organized, allowing for timely response to changes in the situation.Special attention is being paid to assisting the population, primarily home front veterans. In the “Novy” district, guardsmen are clearing residential areas of snow. The Kazakh delegation took part in the “Italy – Central Asia – Azerbaijan” Forum 29.03.2026
On March 23–24, 2026, the Forum «Italy – Central Asia – Azerbaijan» was held in Tashkent under the theme «Innovation, regenerative agriculture and digitalization for sustainable agroecosystems». The Kazakh delegation was headed by the Vice-minister of Agriculture Yermeк Kenjekhanuly.Participants of the Forum discussed prospects for deepening cooperation in the agricultural sector, including ensuring food security, digitalization of the agro-industrial complex, introduction of innovative technologies, and rational use of water resources. Particular attention was paid to the development of mutual trade, implementation of joint investment projects, and expansion of the region’s export potential.Following the Forum, the heads of delegations from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, and Italy signed a joint Communiqué, as well as a Declaration on the establishment of a Eurasian University and a Research Alliance in the fields of climate resilience, food security, and food technologies.Within the framework of the event, a meeting was held between the Vice-minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Y. During the negotiations, the parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations in the agricultural sector. It was noted that out of the total agricultural trade turnover in Central Asia amounting to 3.6 billion US dollars, Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan trade accounts for 2.2 billion US dollars. The parties paid special attention to cooperation issues, particularly the processing of grain, legumes, and oilseeds, as well as expanding the production of meat and dairy products. It was emphasized that the agreements reached provide additional momentum to the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and lay the foundation for long-term cooperation.In addition, a meeting was held between the head of the Kazakh delegation and Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, F. Lollobrigida, during which prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed, including the implementation of joint investment projects, expansion of trade and economic ties, and the introduction of modern agrotechnologies.Negotiations were also held with the representatives of leading Italian companies such as «SIMEST», «Diagram», and others. Astana, March 25, 2026 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev held a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.During the call, the parties discussed the current situation in the Middle East and exchanged views amid ongoing tensions in the region.Y.Kosherbayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s position, previously voiced by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and expressed concern over the ongoing escalation in the region, including strikes targeting the territory of the United Arab Emirates. Yaounde, 25 March 2026 – On the eve of the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (MC14) in Yaoundé (Republic of Cameroon), H.E. Mr. Kairat Torebayev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the WTO, participated as a speaker in the 14th China Round Table on WTO Accessions.The Round Table brought together countries at various stages of the accession process, WTO Members, as well as international partners to exchange experiences on accession, economic reforms, and integration into the global trading system.In his statement, the Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan noted that the accession process requires a high level of institutional readiness and coherence of public policy. He emphasized that successful accession depends on effective coordination among government agencies, clear identification of national priorities, and active engagement with the business community.Drawing on Kazakhstan’s experience, it was noted that a consistent and balanced approach to reforms contributes to a more predictable and stable trading environment. German experts discuss Kazakhstan’s initiative to establish an International Water Organization within the UN System 29.03.2026
Berlin, 25 March 2026 – A roundtable discussion titled “Water as a Foundation of Global Security” was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Federal Republic of Germany with the participation of German experts from government bodies, agencies and research institutions specializing in water resources, ecology, climate and environmental protection.The main focus of the event was on strengthening global water governance, addressing existing institutional gaps and expanding opportunities for multilateral cooperation in the water sector.Particular attention was given to the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the United Nations.During the discussion participants noted that despite decades of international efforts the world continues to face serious water and climate challenges. In particular, around 2.2 billion people still lack access to safely managed drinking water, while more than 3.5 billion people do not have access to adequate sanitation. Yaoundé, 25 March 2026 – A Ministerial Meeting of the group of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) was held on the margins of the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (MC14), focusing on their deeper integration into the multilateral trading system.During the meeting, participants discussed key structural challenges faced by LLDCs, including high trade and transit costs, limited transport and digital connectivity, a narrow export base, and vulnerability to external shocks.The meeting resulted in the adoption of a Ministerial Declaration reaffirming Members’ commitment to an open, inclusive and rules-based multilateral trading system, as well as the need to take into account the specific challenges of landlocked developing countries.The Declaration places particular emphasis on the further implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, as well as ensuring efficient, predictable and non-discriminatory transit. It also highlights the importance of developing transport and digital infrastructure, enhancing the participation of LLDCs in global value chains, and strengthening the role of digital trade and e-commerce. He highlighted that efforts to develop the sector are already delivering results, with overall agricultural output increasing by 13.6% last year.He added that Kazakhstan aims to significantly expand its agricultural processing sector in the coming years, with the goal of increasing the share of high value-added products to 70%. To achieve this, the country plans to build new processing facilities and modernise existing ones.Yerzhan Ashikbayev also reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s intention to strengthen its partnership with the FAO, including through the implementation of a three-year plan to launch more than 700 investment projects in the agri-food sector.During a meeting with IFAD President and Chair of UN-Water Alvaro Lario, the parties reviewed their joint efforts to advance regional and international cooperation in water security. Yerzhan Ashikbayev noted that, through the KazAID agency, Kazakhstan provides humanitarian assistance to partner countries and contributes to socio-economic stability in regions affected by crises, natural disasters, and other emergencies.He also emphasised the growing importance of water-related challenges globally. A festive event titled “Welcome, Az Nauryz!” was held at a high level in the village of Bastaushy. This vibrant celebration dedicated to the Great Day of the Nation brought joy and uplifted spirits to the residents, while also providing a wonderful opportunity to honor our national traditions.During the celebration, respected elderly women in white headscarves performed the ancient Kazakh cleansing ritual alastau, showered sweets (shashu), and shared their heartfelt wishes. The village elders gave their blessings and expressed sincere words of goodwill to everyone present.At the event, the Akim (mayor) of the Bastaushy rural district, Arman Bolatbekovich Kenesbekov, delivered a congratulatory speech and extended his Nauryz greetings to the residents. Nauryz Meiram celebration in Kostanay region 29.03.2026
Nauryz Meyramy was celebrated widely and on a grand scale in the Kostanay region. This year, the region demonstrated a modern and creative approach to organizing the festivities, combining rich cultural heritage with advanced digital technologies.A distinctive feature of the celebration was the introduction of gamification elements and the use of modern IT solutions. In total, over 50 digital initiatives were implemented in the region, aimed at popularizing national traditions in an interactive format. Residents and guests of the region were able not only to observe the festive events but also to actively participate in them through digital platforms and game mechanics.The scale of the events involved a significant number of participants: over 150 thousand people took part in offline activities, and more than 600 thousand users joined the celebration in the online space.A special festive atmosphere was created by 340 thematic yurts set up in all cities and districts of the region. Visual support was provided by 170 LED screens, which broadcast festive programs, cultural projects, and interactive content.A rich cultural program featured performances by 150 artists. Famous performers and creative groups performed on the region's stages, including the group "Qyran," Kairat Tuntekov, and the ethno-group "1465."
